FINGER LAKE METAL FEST is an annual, FREE, all ages event, set up mainly to promote the LOCAL & REGIONAL metal scene. 　 FINGER LAKES METAL FEST takes place in upstate New York's northern Finger Lakes region in the late spring. Hosted by local metal band SPATER. This event features many of the very best unsigned metal bands from around the region. Each year this event grows bigger and better than the last. Often with on-site professional tattoo booth, vendors, camping. There is also bowling available as well as video games, food and drink. Each year in the fall, we begin taking band submissions for the following year's event. To qualify for consideration, all you need is; 1). You must be a metal band of some sort (any genre within the metal spectrum). 2). We must be able to listen to at least one song in it's entirety either online or by submitted CD. 3). You must have at least ½ hour's worth of original material that you can perform live. Once we have announced that we are taking band submissions, just submit your band via email at flmetalfest@spaterrock.com. Or US postal service to; FLMF c/o David Henninger 440 West Ave Newark, NY 14513 Each year we get plenty of bands to want to perform at this event. We would love to have every band that wants in to be able to play a set, but it will not be possible to have every band that wants in to perform. So there will be a selection process. Bands will be selected based on original material among other factors. This event is mainly set up for the purpose of showcasing original material. We wish to have a variety of different styles of metal bands perform at this event. In other words, we don't want to hold an event where every band sounds the same, which is often the case with multi band shows these days. Ours should be unique and have something for all types of metal heads of all ages. This will be a no-clone show. Participating bands will receive some perks, such as drink tickets, commemorative t-shirts with all the bands names or logos on them, camping and all around fun. Stay tuned for announcements as details become available ------------------------------------------------- PROMOTING. We will be promoting this event to the best of our ability. Newspapers, internet, posters, flyers, radio, magazines, etc. We will be putting out a sampler CD in which each selected band may submit a song. This is optional. The CD will have respectively one song from each band that will be performing, who give consent. The insert will have the event info as well as each bands name, song title and web address. There will be T-shirts available with each band's name or logo on it to commemorate this event. Band members will receive one t-shirt each, free. All other shirts will be available for sale at the main merch table. You can bring any merch you like to this gig. Promote yourself any way you like as long as no one gets hurt or has any conflicts with it. If your band is not one of the bands selected, show up anyway, throw down some support, you may be selected for the next time and being remembered might be helpful in getting called for other such events. Support is key to success.
