His first recognition as a talented solo guitarist was in 2003 at The Celtic Connections Festival in Glasgow. Iain was honoured with a Danny Kyle award for his performance, in which he competed with bands and musicians from all over the UK.
In the past few years Iain has been opening shows for established acts which include Brian Kennedy, Eddi Reader, Donnie Munro of Runrig, John Renbourn, The James Brown Band, Horse McDonald, Ricki Lee Jones, Hans Theesink, Bruce Molsky and Duck Baker.
He has played in large concert venues such as ‘The Royal Concert Hall’ in Glasgow, ‘The Barrowlands’ and small venues and clubs and has made many festival appearances. Some festival appearances include Celtic Connections, The Ullapool Guitar Festival, The Glasgow Jazz Festival, The Hairst, Bute Live, The Largs Jazz festival, The Traquair Fair, The Glasgow Fringe, The Merchant City Festival, The Kirkmichael village festival and many more.

(= Not only is your playing brilliant, Who Are You always reminds me now of one of our fave telly programs...you know the one, I'm sure. heheh AND with the fact that ma man is also from Glasgow and spells his name the same as you - how can I NOT choose you as my fave! I did go to the Django gig - it was excellent - they played a few new things as they're currently recording a new album - I think it would have been Django's 100th birthday next year so its all to tie in with that.
