Finlay Cowan - Fantasy art's Interests
GeneralI'm just 'interested' in general... art, music, culture. I collect myths and stories both ancient and modern, I have a passion for history... especially Celtic and Scandinavian. I love Scotland, Ireland, Wales...all the Scandinavian Countries, their people and culture... and the same for Eastern Europe and Russia. I have also accumulated a resource on the Orient, the Middle East, Sufism and especially the Arabian Nights...and I'm an expert on the Indian Mutiny of 1857 (go on, test me - 'dulce et decorum pro patria mori' )
MusicWagner... really, really loud.
MoviesA Matter of Life and Death, Apocalypse Now, Fight Club... Night Porter... European art movies.
TelevisionTV sucks... reality TV sucks... - reality sucks.
BooksAnything by Sir Richard F Burton ('Pura omnia, pura est' - to the pure all things are pure ) or Lesley Blanche (The Sabres of Paradise). Robert Graves (The White Goddess). Peter Hopkirk (The Great Game), Isabelle Eberhard (In the Shadow of Islam), Paul Bowles (Let It Come Down), Brion Gysin (The Process) Kipling (Kim).
HeroesSir R.F Burton. Lesley Blanche. Corto Maltese (fictional character)... amnesty international, WWF, NSPCC and all the forgotten numbers who ever stood up against fascists, dictators and genocidal tyrants.

AQUALISE

Mar 30 2009 10:52 AM

Hello,
Just a little msg to say thanks for your support and it's very nice to be here with you in your categories.

AQUALISE: "Share with us our passion for the sea".
The ocean's universe, mysteries, colours and magic have been a great source of inspiration for the Aqualise project.
Your own Aquatic Adventure is about to begin...Come on board and take the plunge with us.

We are working really hard to express our feelings and emotions about the sea and to make the world :) appreciate even more our oceans and together we can safeguard their future.
Our fragile earth deserves much better. It needs solutions. It needs change. It needs action. I’m intending to use my music to help to defend the planet.
Aqualise is a project based around water and the ocean. (chillout, chillout and even more chillout, Lounge music, electronic, soundtrack, Nu-jazz, Downtempo etc...), It is not only an artist project, it's also a record label focused on the ocean and water.

I'm also on the Sea Shepherd forum and I am very active to try to help as much as I can with my music.

Join us too on my Aqualise group on Facebook.

Do not hesitate to be in touch.
All the best.

poem by Ing

The Oak King wore a crown made of deer antlers
intertwined with leafy branches of oak and mistletoe
bearing its white berries.

The Oak King was majestic as he strode through the
forest. He was following the sun, and he was finding
the path colder day by day.

Each time he crossed a stream, the Oak King would
take a drink. Each time he did, he began to see that
he was growing very old.

Soon the Oak King found it difficult to continue.

His old and stiffened body could not carry him much
further.

As he pulled himself to the edge of a calm, clear
spring, he said to himself; "Each day grows darker;
soon I shall die." The ancient Oak King bent to take
a drink. As he looked at his reflection, he saw ice
forming on the surface of the water. The Oak King
felt the darkness. The ice was closing his vital
drinking space.

Just as he was failing, the Oak King looked again at
his reflection in the spring. This time he saw the
ice melting away. The antlered crown of the Oak King
began to change. The rounded oak leaves became sharp
and pointed. The white mistletoe berries became red
as if the life fluids of all animals flowed into
them.

The Oak King lifted his head and felt the life force
grow strong within him. As he looked into the
unfreezing stream, this time he saw holly leaves
with red berries instead of oak and mistletoe.

The former Oak King, now the Holly King, leapt from
the stream bank, and pranced through the forest. He
now follows the sun on its upward course. With each
step the Holly King takes, he melts the ice, leaving
the ground ready for the Goddess to awaken her tiny
plants.

So Mote It Be!

November

"November comes
And November goes,
With the last red berries
And the first white snows.

Photobucket

With night coming early,
And dawn coming late,
And ice in the bucket
And frost by the gate.

Photobucket

The fires burn
And the kettles sing,
And earth sinks to rest
Until next spring."
