Interests

  • General

I'm a DL. If you don't know what that means, don't bother asking.

I like writing, research for writing, reading, listening to engaging talk radio (as opposed to hate talk), spending time with my cats, going for walks, meeting new friends who share my same interests while opening myself up to new interests. I’m quite liberal on the political scale and am always cracking jokes, usually something having to do with current events or politics. Oh, if you have to explain a joke to someone, it’s no longer a joke. So if you don’t get something, please just say nothing and carry on. I really hate it when someone asks me to explain a joke or a quip. My brain works differently than most. Some things shouldn’t need explaining.

.. You scored as Green. The Green Party believes in an America where decisions are made by the people and not by a few giant corporations. Their environmental goal is a sustainable world where nature and human society co-exist in harmony.

  • Music

Smashing Pumpkins, U2, AC/DC, The Beatles, Foo Fighters, Coldplay, The Moody Blues, Ministry, Midnight Oil, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, The Police, R.E.M., Rush, Linkin' Park, many others
  • Movies

Far too many to list here. But my all-time favorite is Raiders of the Lost Ark. The Star Wars trilogy (Episodes IV-VI) changed modern cinema and must be counted. I like action, comedy, sci-fi, suspense…just about anything that’s well written, has excellent character development, and entertains. That’s the whole purpose of movies anyway: to entertain.
  • Television

The ONLY show I watch on TV is The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (Comedy Central). I have found virtually everything that is designed to entertain is hopelessly contrived and everything that is designed as news is nothing but well sculpted lies. I dislike being lied to which is why I avoid all news programs on TV.

  • Books

I guess my two favorite books are: 1. Idiocy! Taking Conservatives Behind The Woodshed: A Parody Of Ann Coulter's Books And Right-wing Ideology.

    2. Women May Be from Venus...but Men Are Really from Uranus: A Parody of Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus and Other John Gray Books.

Of course, those are my books, written under the Katherine Black pseudonym. (When you're agoraphobic you don't like attention drawn to yourself.)

My favorite authors are Stephen King, Robert Ludlum, Pearl S. Buck, James Rollins, Jack DuBrul, Clive Cussler and many other worthy authors I am too tired to name or just can't recall their names. I'm bad with names.

You scored as A classic novel. Almost everyone showers praise upon you for your depth and enduring relevance. According to your acolytes, everything you say is timeless, erudite and meaningful. Of course, none of them actually listen to you. Nobody listens to you at all, but it's fashionable to claim you as a friend. Fond of obscure words, antiquated notions and libraries, you never have a problem finding someone to hang out with. The fact that they end up using you to balance their kitchen tables is an unfortunate side effect, but you're used to being used for others' benefit. Oh the burden of being Great.

  • Heroes

There aren't many heroes left in this world but I'd have to say that firefighters are my heroes as they selflessly serve the public by putting their lives on the line for our lives. That's just downright heroic.

Nicola Tesla is a recent hero -- that guy was 100 years ahead of his time. http://www.teslascience.org/

.. You scored as agnosticism. You are an agnostic. Though it is generally taken that agnostics neither believe nor disbelieve in God, it is possible to be a theist or atheist in addition to an agnostic. Agnostics don't believe it is possible to prove the existence of God (nor lack thereof).

Agnosticism is a philosophy that God's existence cannot be proven. Some say it is possible to be agnostic and follow a religion; however, one cannot be a devout believer if he or she does not truly believe.

Although I scored agnostic I am leaning toward atheism. I find it harder to accept that a loving and benevolent god would allow such horrors in the world and our lives to take place without some sort of divine intervention. That's why it's called faith; I have no longer have faith.

About me:

I’ve been waging a war against my disability since December 2000 and I’m finally winning the battle. What is my disability? Agoraphobia. I was home-bound for almost 4 years, unable to leave my home for something as simple as going to the mailbox. .. But then something happened to me that changed my life forever. I used to work for Microsoft and part of the employee perks were that we could acquire internal software and sell it. As long as you didn’t abuse the system it could work for you. I knew of employees who would sell $50,000 worth of software to buy a new car. The company looked the other way.

In 2003 I wrote a book (under a pseudonym, remember I am agoraphobic) that was a parody of Ann Coulter’s rantings and conservatives in general. I openly criticized the Bush administration. In return, the FBI began investigating me. They found nothing of consequence. I was given a full audit by the IRS. Nothing abnormal was found. Then the FBI went to Microsoft and asked them about me. Microsoft said, “Oh look, he was selling software.”

I was prosecuted by the federal government for a variety of crimes, none of which I committed. But because of my agoraphobia I could not go to court to defend myself so I pled guilty to crimes I did not commit and was sentenced to four years in prison. I served the vast majority of time at a Federal Medical Center (FMC), a prison hospital. I still have agoraphobia, along with a panic and anxiety disorder, but progress is being made against the disorders. Agoraphobia is incurable but can be managed and I'm getting to the point where I can manage it. However, I’m unable to work due to these disabilities. But that won’t stop me from writing. No, I won’t be writing about the follies of the government. With Obama in office there’s nothing to parody.

However, I will be writing about Microsoft. My case is interesting to say the least; I’ve outlined a book idea to a number of people in the entertainment industry and the expectation is that the book, when I write it, will be a bestseller. So I have that to look forward to. You wouldn’t believe the things I know about Microsoft, their lies, secrets and corruption. It’s staggering to see and know what they have gotten away with over the years and I intend to expose their treachery.

So that’s where we stand. All I can say is that it’s good to be back home.

brought to you by Quizilla
Your Birthdate: June 25
Your birth on the 25th day of the month (7 energy) modifies your life path by giving you some special interest in technical, scientific, or other complex and often hard to understand subjects. You may become something of a perfectionist and a stickler for details. Your thinking is logical and intuitive, rational and responsible. Your feelings may run deep, but you are not very likely to let them show. This birthday makes you a more private person, more introspective and perhaps more inflexible. In friendships you are very cautious and reserved. You are probably inventive, and given to unique approaches and solutions.

Who I'd like to meet:

Professor Stephen Hawking. I don't know the first thing about physics but I'd like to talk to someone who is so much smarter than me that I can't bluff my way around a subject. It's better to know a little about a lot than a lot about very little.
.. You scored as Existentialist. Existentialism emphasizes human capability. There is no greater power interfering with life and thus it is up to us to make things happen. Sometimes considered a negative and depressing world view, your optimism towards human accomplishment is immense. Mankind is condemned to be free and must accept the responsibility.

Thanks for adding me. ¶ People hear only what they want, so facts alone won't wake them; they need inspiration too. ¶ This world's evils have a common root: Bullies, liars, thieves, & murderers — whether in school, home, government, or elsewhere — believe we're all separate, motivated only by self-interest, by greed & fear. They want us to share that belief; they use it to justify themselves and to discourage us from uniting. They use it to shape the world's political & economic systems that perpetuate war & poverty. Their real power comes not so much from secret conspiracies as from propaganda that we all hear every day and that we hardly notice. ¶ But you & I have found something better inside ourselves & our friends. It's in everyone, if we can just wake them; we're all one flesh & blood. Let's spread that vision, for until we do our other advances will be minor & temporary. ¶ The outcome of the ideological struggle is not yet determined, so no one can afford to be just a spectator. Join the movement, if you haven't already: get involved in whatever way feels right for you. Question authority. Keep fighting, loving, hoping, singing. Hand in hand, we may still be able to heal this world. ¶ I'm impressed with ideas of Lakoff & Waldman about *how* to spread the vision, so I'm trying to promote their ideas via comments like this one and the essay on my MySpace page. It's free (I'm not selling anything). ¶ The real war is between classes, not nations; so I'll picnic on July 14, not July 4. CLOSE GUANTANAMO BY BASTILLE DAY; PASS IT ON.

  • Nov 26 2005 4:03 AM

You make your own dream. That's the Beatles' story, isn't it? That's Yoko's story . That's what I'm saying now. Produce your own dream. If you want to save Peru, go save Peru. It's quite possible to do anything, but not to put it on the leaders and the parking meters. Don't expect Jimmy Carter or Ronald Reagan or John Lennon or Yoko Ono or Bob Dylan or Jesus Christ to come and do it for you. You have to do it yourself. That's what the great masters and mistresses have been saying ever since time began. They can point the way, leave signposts and little instructions in various books that are now called holy and worshipped for the cover of the book and not for what it says, but the instructions are all there for all to see, have always been and always will be. There's nothing new under the sun. All the roads lead to Rome. And people cannot provide it for you. I can't wake you up. You can wake you up. I can't cure you. You can cure you.
