This mirror ball’s a slung moon
That heaves the tides of new tunes
That slap the yellow sides smooth
Of an old wood ship that moves
Mysterious beneath you -
That rocks, creaks, leaks and, sighing
Capsizes, tips us all in
To swim and find we’re breathing -
Glad of leaning out towards
A fine silver glittered orb

The sweet, fiery warblings of Suffolk singer-songwriter Fiona Bevan have been compared to Erykah Badu, Joni Mitchell and Marc Bolan. Her band simmer and shimmer, her folk songs are inflected with jazz, and her award-winning lyrics pry into the dark corners of love, with a cast of stumbling party-girls, fickle sailors and forlorn lovers sleeping out in trees.
Fiona Bevan has been steadily flouncing her blonde afro round gigs in London / Brighton / Manchester / Zurich / Berlin / Glastonbury. She recently faced the judges on Channel 4's "Orange Unsigned Act" with trembling knees and a cheeky grin, and won over Blur’s Alex James with her melodies and guitaring.
After a Spring jam-packed with gigging, including the acclaimed Vortex Tour East for the Mayor of London’s East Fest 09, Fiona has just released her debut solo album.
"Absolutely brilliant" Tom Robinson, BBC 6 Music
“Spine-tingling. Fiona Bevan completely transported me” Alex James, Blur
"Radiant and uplifting . . . a major talent in the waiting" glasswerk.co.uk
Fiona Bevan's new album, "Plant Your Heart" is:
Produced by Andy Fell. Recorded at Real World Studios, Bath, and in living rooms in Hampstead and Gospel Oak, London, waiting for planes to go over, for summer storms to subside and for taxis to finish pirouetting in the road outside.
Featuring star performances from Francesca Simmons, Paul Taylor, Mark Thomas, Rosalie Bevan, Laura Bevan, Tim Walker, Robin Baynton and Andy Fell.
Mastered by Greg Calbi (Grizzly Bear / Sonic Youth / Martha Wainwright / Clap Your Hands Say Yeah / Mercury Rev etc)

You will plant your heart in the woods for me
And I can live off the fruit of the tree -
Blood oranges, berries, ruby grapes,
From the sobbing, throbbing buried shape.
Recording, mixing, mastering, production and songwriting. Only £20 per hour and even less if you block-book. Really great equipment and experienced staff.
