Fiona Culley is a 21 year old singer/songwriter and rising star on the London live scene. Already a regular feature at the boutique style Bourne & Hollingsworth venue in central London, Fiona can be heard with her guitar driven original sound.
With her mother being an accountant and her father a successful property developer, from the age of three Fiona moved around various traditional boarding schools with a view to her following in her parents ‘corporate’ footsteps, but it soon became apparent that Fiona had other ideas. With her endearing rebellious streak, Fiona turned down countless opportunities to perform in the school choir, preferring to shock the school Chaplain with her raunchy versions of Madonna’s ‘Like a Virgin’.
Soon after leaving school, Fiona moved to London where she began writing and playing her songs in various venues and soon building up her own following of dedicated fans and holds the distinction of playing the most populated intimate gigs in London.
It was at one of these gigs that Fiona was spotted by Ivor Novello award winning record producers Bradley and Stewart James who are now currently working with Fiona in their private studio on her forthcoming album.
With Fiona’s powerful yet pure voice and model looks, she both vocally and visually personifies the aptly named title track of her album ‘Something To Die For’. What would the Chaplain say now!
Life is short....this is a beautiful lesson...
The girl in the picture is Katie Kirkpatrick, she is 21. Next to her, her fiancé, Nick, 23. The picture was taken shortly before their wedding ceremony, held on January 11, 2005 in the US. Katie has terminal cancer and spend hours a day receiving medication. In the picture, Nick is waiting for her on one of the many sessions of chemo to end.
In spite of all the pain, organ failures, and morphine shots, Katie is going along with her wedding and took care
of every detail. The dress had to be adjusted a few times due to her constant weight loss.
An unusual accessory at the party was the oxygen tube that Katie used throughout the ceremony and reception as well.
The other couple in the picture are Nick's parents. Excited to see their son marrying his high school sweetheart.
Katie, in her wheelchair with the oxygen tube, listening to a song from her husband and friends. At the reception, Katie had to take a few rests, The pain not allowing her to be standing for long periods
Katie died five days after her wedding day. Watching a woman so ill and weak getting married and with a smile on her face makes us think..
