Fire Pig Productions was formed in 2007 by Wayne Slaten, James Denton and Marisol Trevino-Slaten. Moonlite Filmwerks was formed in 2008 as a division of Fire Pig Productions.
We are a group of small independent filmmakers involved in all aspects of film production and post production. We started doing this as a hobby and the passion of making films (we all have day jobs) but hope that it will develop in to more in the future. We are looking to network with local independent filmmakers and indie film lovers.
We are currently in post production on our first feature length film and most ambitious project to date titled "BACKROAD". Check out the BACKROAD MySpace page under our Friend Space below and please add it to your MySpace friends.
In June 2009 we completed a short thriller/suspense film titled PURSUIT as part of the Houston 48 Hour Film Project. We took home awards for Best Cinematography (3rd year in a row), Best Sound Design (2nd year in a row) and Best Use of Prop. This was Fire Pig Productions third year competing in the Houston 48 Hour Film Project and our last. We have enjoyed the fast paced environment and team building experience of this annual event.
In November 2008 we completed another short film, TOAST. A student film project written and directed by Arielle Slaten. Toast will be screened internationally as part of the HISD International Baccalaureate Program.
In June 2008 we completed the short film ONE which was an entry in the 2008 Houston 48 Hour Film Project. ONE was screened at the Landmark River Oaks Theatre on June 11th. ONE took home awards for Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Sound Design and an Honorable Mention for Directing.
We were a semifinalist in March 2008 for our 3 minute short film LAST STAND entered in the George A. Romero Diary of the Dead Video Contest. Check out the LAST STAND MySpace page under our Friend Space below.
We wrapped up post production in October 2007 on ZombiNatioN, a sci-fi 24 minute short film. ZombiNatioN is an official selection in the 2008 Dark Carnival Film Festival and the 2008 Indie Film Festival. Check out the ZombiNatioN MySpace page under our Friend Space below.
In May of 2007 we participated in the Houston 48 Hour Film Project (The Eraser) which won three awards. We followed that up with the short film (diversité) entered in the 2007 SXSWclick Festival.
