Ever since i've known myself i'm a lover of music. I've been playing Reggae music since the last fifteen years professionally. Through the inspiration of the most High I also textercise music that means writng songs, songs that to fre the peoples mind, soul and spirit. I also write a bit of love songs. The Culture Shock
Fitzroy Anthony Maxwell, Sänger, Percussionist und DJ ist in Portland, Jamaica aufgewachsen. Der 1973 geborene Musiker verließ mit 20 Jahren seine Heimat, um in Europa sein musikalisches Talent und die Botschaft seines Vaters Haile Selassi I den Leuten zu überbringen. Durch seinen unerschütterlichen Glauben an die Musik, schaffte es der Sänger und einzigartiger percussionist sein Publikum zu bewegen.
Fireblacks Repertoire ist sehr vielseitig mit vielen Eigenkompositionen, sowie zeitgemäß arrangierten Standards aus dem Reggae und traditionellen Bereich. Seine Musik und seine Texte gründen in einer engen geistigen Bindung zu Afrika; die Identität der Schwarzen ist ein wichtiges Thema für ihn. Auf der Bühne jedoch offenbart sich der Zauber der Karibik, dieser magische Moment, der meistens nur von echten jamaikanischen Reggaekünstlern entfacht werden kann. Er ist der Mann, der in seinen Liedern erzählt "A SOFT answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger."
Fireblack the Roots-&-Culture-Ambassador hat auf vielen Reggae-Festivals gespielt und mit namhaften Musikern zusammengearbeitet:
Fireblack gehört zu den Gründern der Movement Reggae Bands aus Bielefeld (D) und zu der Zeit entstand die CD "One Earth". Mit dieser Band hatte er zahlreiche Konzerte und Festivals quer durch Deutschland, Östereich und Schweiz. Außerdem war er auf Tour mit Cosmic Force, Renegades in Exil und Jamaica Showcase. Mit seinem spirituellen Zauber zog er seine zuhörerschaft in seinen Bann. Anschließend zog er sich für einige Zeit zurück, um sich neu zu inspirieren zu lassen und besinnen, um neue kraftvolle Texte zu schreiben. Dann gründete er mit anderen Künstlern aus Jamaica, Simbabwe und Deutschland das Projekt "Damara Crew" das von Pyramid Music unterstützt wurde.
Es folgen die Aufnahme einer Single und die Fertigstellung eines Albums, dass in Kürze veröffentlicht werden soll. Mit diesem Projekt fanden bereits einige erfolgreiche Shows in Portugal als Opening Band vor Patrice und vor Luciano statt.
Parallel zum Damara Crew Projekt arbeitet er nun an seinem Soloprojekt "Elemental" welches sein Fundament im Roots Reggae auf einer neuen, moderneren Ebene hat.
Unter Anderem sind Aufnahmen bei House of Riddim für eine Reggae Compilation geplant sowie bei UCY Production Dortmund. Dort sollen dieses Jahr diverse Songs veröffewntlicht werden.
Heute präsentieren wir auf unserer Bühne, auf der ansonsten solche Acts wie Moneybrother, die Sportfreunde Stiller oder Samy Deluxe stehen, eines der talentiertesten und erfolgreichsten Jugend - Schlagwerkensemble der Republik: BI-CUSSION.
Zusammen bildet die 25-köpfige Truppe einen imposanten Klangteppich der nicht weniger als 80 Schlaginstrumente umfasst. Dabei werden sowohl jede Menge Fellinstrumente (Trommeln aller Art), als auch Melodieinstrumente wie Xylophon, Marimbaphon, Vibraphon und Glockenspiel benutzt.
