METAL HAMMER MAGAZINE:
"We seriously suggest you check out Firebrand Super Rock - they sound like Down on a seriously stoner riff bender fuelled by every scuzzy drug, having invited the singer from Firewind to come and wail over the top."
ZERO TOLERANCE MAGAZINE:
"An aptly named band, cos Firebrand Super Rock ain't afraid to rock! Singer Laura Donnelly has an excellent voice, the band really gel together and they've got the songs! 'Pickin the Bones' sounds like a collision between Soundgarden and Dio, and all the better for it! 'Fenrir' is more old-school metal, and catchy as feck! The sooner Firebrand Super Rock record a full album, the better!"
POWERPLAY MAGAZINE:
"Firebrand Super Rock are a young Edinburgh based metal band. This is their first EP and it is quite simply stunning. This is real traditional heavy metal, full of power and melody and topped with the incredible vocals of Laura Donnelly. The EP kicks off with 'Point Of No Return', a Judas Priest meets raven piece of pure metal. Then we get to 'Pickin The Bones'. On this one the band sound uncannily like Benedictum. Now this may be due to the very similar vocal style Donnelly has to Veronica Freeman, but in any case it's no bad thing as i think Benedictum are excellent. Next we get 'Fenrir' and 'Drop D Destroyer'. Every track is a gem and it's impossible to pick between them. The guitar work of Jamie Gilchrist is great and the drumming of Bruce Urquhart drives things along at breakneck speed without ever losing control. I suspect there wasn't a whole lot of money thrown at this EP but you'd never guess, as the production, courtesy of Ramage, is top notch. The EP is available through the band's Myspace page, and if everyone goes and buys a copy, maybe the band will do a full album. Here's hoping"
ORGAN MAGAZINE:
"FIREBRAND SUPERROCK – Metal! None more so; if you like your classic Maiden style metal and punching the air, if you like the storming tuneful power of classic bands like Testament, Sanctuary or Raven – that and creatures of the night and the devil's spies and taking flight - then you'll want this four piece from Edinburgh to be picking at your bones. Impressive professional front line old school proper power metal, an extremely well recorded demo, highly recommended"
BRUCE DICKINSON (on the BBC 6 Music rock show):
