About FIRE HAWK @ The Provo Elks Club New Years Eve !
In 1983 the Chapparals, a very popular and successful local country band, parted ways. Vocalist and bass player Tom Manzanares left and took long time drummer Dave Vincent and vocalist Karen Jensen, and formed the band "Fire Hawk".
Over the years there have been many talented members of Fire Hawk, but none offered long term stability to the band. Tom decided the best way to develop a solid, long term group was to recruit some of his own home-grown talent. In the late 80's, Tom's brother Rick left a band he had formed called "Thunder West" and joined Fire Hawk to play rhythm guitar and vocals. A short time later, Tom's oldest son Marty, joined Fire Hawk as Lead guitarist and vocals. Soon after, youngest son Brett, became Fire Hawk's drummer, making Fire Hawk a very unique band.
After several sucessful years of playing, Rick decided to retire from the band scene and was replaced with Mike Spencer another very experienced musician and songwriter, and former member of several sucessful groups including "Thunder Buck Ram". During this time , Marty also began writing songs, and the band began to perform some of their original material at their live performances. Mike played for Fire Hawk for a few years and after another very sucessful run, Mike decided to pursue other musical interests.
Johnny Inglish, another very talented musician and songwriter, replaced Mike on guitar and vocals and brought to the band an even greater interest in songwriting. Johnny being a very charismatic performer, was a perfect fit for the band. The next and most recent addition would give Fire Hawk a very unique configuation. Adam Inglish, (Johnny's brother) and former front man of the band "Gold Rush", joined Fire Hawk ..boards and guitar. Adam being a great songwriter, vocalist and showman, completed an already entertaining and enthusiastic " Fire Hawk Band".
After another successful run of entertaining Johnny decided to persue law school and couldn't afford the time required to play, so Fire Hawk became a 4 piece configuration again.
A few years later , Adam decided to start his own business and he also couldn't afford the time to continue playing with Fire Hawk...Brett (drummer) decided to persue other interests as well and left the band. Fire Hawk was back to searching for new talent with the same goal and interests as Tom and Marty. It was found in our new drummer , Taylor Thomas...who was a seasoned drummer and fun loving musician, just what Fire Hawk was searching for! Now the challenge was to find a guitar player who would fit in to the band and add more enthuiasm and talent.... Lee Holbrook was that person . Now the goal was to become even more entertaining..We are currently striving for that goal with great success.
Fire Hawk's style of music could be described as a blend of country, classic rock and modern rock, with four lead vocalists sharing the duties. Known for their showmanship and their ability to connect with the audience, Fire Hawk truely excels at what they love to do!!
Fire Hawk has opened for many big name acts including Ty Herndon, Mel McDaniels, Chris Ledoux, Highway 101, Ricochet, The Bellamy Brotheres, Restless Heart, Dan Seals.
