Founded in early 2006, Fire In The City Records aim to bring the best in unsigned Scottish talent to the wider listening public. With the opening gambit of a showcasing compilation CD the label aspires to help and promote artists all over the country.
Run entirely as a non-profit venture, Fire In The City Records is unique in its local area (the sleepy Scottish county of Ayrshire just south of Glasgow) and we hope the label will bring something new and exciting to the music scene - a chance for local talent to benefit from the knowledge and passion of a record label run not for personal gain but for the promotion of good music alone.
Indeed, such is the very ethos behind the label, we plan to bring a new approach to releasing music as an independent record label. We will never charge to release a band and likewise we will never contract you to buy anything you contribute to - bearing in mind we allow you to retain the rights to the music you release through us, and that we wont hold you down with contracts, i'm sure you'll see this is an ethical approach. We don't want to make a lot of money from you, we just want to help your band get off the ground. This is a project for music lovers by music lovers, and thus contracts and obligations dont come into it.
In the future well be releasing more compilations (possibly offering the chance to appear on them to bands from outside Scotland) and well be releasing singles from some choice artists that we think deserve a first release to properly launch them into the music business. With tentative plans for split vinyl releases and 3" CD releases we would like to think we have something more original and compelling to offer than other small record labels do.
As Fire In The City Records begins its first year in existence we hope that you're as excited by our foray into the music industry as we are, and that youll give us your continued support and friendship in the years to come.
