REVIEWS/ QUOTES:
NO TIME TO DIE
(FOUR STARS)
Jordie Lane is an emerging star. 2009 will bring his debut solo album, but he also has a duo, Fireside Bellows, with Tracy McNeil, a Canadian singer now based in Melbourne. Sad songs say so much, and the opening cut here sets the tone for the album: “You’ve been cheatin’, you’ve been lyin’, you’ve been untrue …” This is a classic country and bluegrass collection, with tales of longing, loss, desperation and death. There’s something magical about a male and female voice together and No Time To Die is a downbeat delight.

“You know that swoony feeling you get when you hear the voices of a man and woman blend so seamlessly, it’s as if their hearts are also beating in unison? Gram and Emmylou always do that for me. And now, Jordie Lane and Canadian singer-songwriter Tracy McNeil as Fireside Bellows. They have produced a breathtaking debut in No Time To Die, an album grounded in American roots from which the duo have branched out with their own sweet alt-country fruits… Lane and McNeil’s unhurried vocals remain the crown jewel amid sparkling company.“ 4 Stars

"It's not often that a cd's every track grabs me on a first listen and even rarer when that impression is held up on the second listen. Fireside Bellows "No Time To Die" - a great debut from all involved!"

“Beautiful…it’s a great album, 5 Stars"
The Melbourne Times(45, Nov 12, 2008)
“Their debut CD No Time to Die covers the full gamut of country styles from tragic murder ballad to oh-so-clever love ditties via rockabilly and a touch of western swing. There are some memorable guest appearances from Garrett Costigan (pedal steel), Andy Baylor (fiddle) and the horn section known as the Hoodangers. But the real strength of this CD is the sweet harmony vocals and classic lyrics”
The Daily Planet, ABC Radio National

“I love the album! It's so melancholy and beautiful. Harmonies are insane.”

"Jordie Lane and Tracy McNeil produce songs and performances as moving
as they are skillful and inspiring. The beauty of Fireside Bellows makes
me weak at the knees, makes me smile, makes me weep. Powerful and
extraordinarily tender."
Liz Stringer
“You just know sometimes…. after only a couple of bars…that you want to hear more. It took only nano seconds for me to know I wanted Fireside on my program..... after playing just a couple of tracks, we were hooked. A stunningly beautiful and earthy sound. Thankyou Fireside Bellows!”
Annie Gastin 105.7 ABC Radio Darwin “Spotlight on Australian Music”
"Their Americana harmonies are gorgeous and warm just like the invitation from a winters day open fire. Their songs are luscious and all engaging...
This album is a must for anyone’s collection. File it along with Gillian Welch and David Rawlings! Long live the Fireside Bellows!”
John Carver, Across The Tracks, 106.7fm PBSFM
"Fireside Bellows' Jordie Lane and Tracy McNeill have voices that sound
like they've been superglued together since birth. Their guitar and banjo
work isn't half brilliant either"

Debut Album "No Time To Die"
Recorded live over 9 days at Spicerack Studios in Brunswick, Melbourne, Australia,
No Time To Die is the remarkable debut album from the alt. country harmony collaboration of local acclaimed Melbourne Song-smith Jordie Lane and Canadian singer-songwriter Tracy McNeil.
A country and bluegrass influenced album that celebrates a shared love of American roots music, No Time To Die also displays this duo’s unique ability in the art of co-writing and harmony singing.
A true alchemy forms with the seamless blend of Lane and McNeil’s voices to create a rare and precious sound. This magic is heard right from the beginning, with the single “I Ain’t Gonna Fall” as their vocal harmonies drink the listener in slow and steady, holding them there until the end of the final epic track “Lost Along The Way”.
The album features many guest appearances including Liz Stringer ‘s slide Banjo on the tongue in cheek “Hypochondriac Blues”, Andy Baylor ‘s brilliant Cajun style Fiddle on the hot tempoed bluegrass number “Come Back Julie”, Garrett Costigan’s unique pedal steel on the outlaw ballad “On The Run” and also dark humoured Murder Rocker “Push Your Lover Down”, and the mournful drones of Stevie Hesketh’s Piano and Pump Organ that creep through “In The Pines” and Lost Along The Way. Not to mention an appearance from The Hoodangers Horn section on “Prime Time”.
After initially meeting on the Internet, on opposite sides of the world, Fireside Bellows never imagined they’d run into each other in Melbourne, and within a year form a band and co write & produce this stunning debut.
