Fascinated by technology that connects us - if it builds a wall or isolates you it's just not that interesting to me :-) I love social media sites like Myspace and Facebook because of the unprecedented chance to share information.
I want to know where the conversation is and not just create it. If you know of a site where people are talking about their student loans (complaints, rants, compliments, anything!) please let me know.
Watch my friend Amie being extremely silly...funny!
Television
Doctor Who, Torchwood, Sarah Jane Chronicles, Battlestar Gallactica, Life on Mars, X-Files, Millenium, Food Network (Good Eats with Alton Brown is a great geeky cooking show), How Its Made
About me: I'm a geek. I'm fascinated by finance, economics and what greases the wheels of business (you know it's not *just* money!) I've spent over 20 years working in, raising money for and volunteering in non-profit organizations. I've learned that besides learning something new every day, my chief satisfaction lies in helping people.
So I landed at a non-profit, Federal Family Education Loan lender, (Susie Mae, a.k.a. The Connecticut Student Loan Foundation) and for over five years I've gotten the best education about money and business I could have ever hoped for. And I get to help families and students all the time!
The federal loans for graduate programs such as these MAY BE FORGIVABLE!! Check out their grad fair schedule and don't miss our blog on the NEW FEDERAL PROVISION for the forgiveness of Federal Student Loans for those in public-service/interest professions: teachers, nurses, military and more!

I leave this Thursday...I am hoping that it is uneventful - it's been pouring buckets of rain today, so hopefully it is all out of it's system by Thursday! Well, I better get to drying off before I leave for a meeting tonight.
I completely understand about having so much going on! I have been busier than all get out lately. I have been working more than normal and this coming weekend I am driving to Minnesota for a friends wedding. It's going to be a LONG lonely drive, that's for sure! I've got a ton to get done before I leave and not enough time to do it in with a meeting tomorrow night, soccer Tuesday and then packing, and getting everything ready to leave on Wednesday night since I will leave right after I get home on Thursday. At least I'll have my computer with me and have a chance to email, etc.
Hope you have a great start to the week...I am hoping that it starts off well for me.
I am SO glad I made it through Friday...I got home and went out to refill AC's water and he has chewed a hole through the water container, so now I can't fill it because when I do it drains out the bottom just as fast as it fills. Other than that, not too bad...getting ready to head to the homecoming game (not at the school I teach at, but the town I live in and where I went to high school). Have a GREAT weekend!
I looked through your blog and LOVE all the tips! I have my Masters, so I'm going to be working at paying off my loans for awhile...I'm hoping that I can share some of the info with my students (and their parents) since I have most of the senior class.
Thanks for the comment on the background - I took the picture at Sprague Lake, near Estes Park, CO. It is one of my favorite pictures of all time. My puppy has grown quite a bit since that picture was taken...he's just over 3 months old now. They weren't sure if he was full black lab or what, but he sure looks (and acts) like it. My son loves him, as long as he doesn't bite him too much. I must agree, education is a big deal and although I don't understand some of the things they think we need to do, I want to continue mine and encourage all my students to do the same...I just hope I can get my son to care as much - he's a smart kiddo right now who loves school, I just hope that continues!
I'm planning on staying updated with your blog - I love looking for ways to help repay my loans! I'll be ready in 4 years (I'm in my second year of teaching) when I can apply for the $17,500 of forgiveness!

Thanks for adding me. ¶ Our problems are diverse, but to make progress on any of them we must also address their common root: Bullies, liars, thieves, murderers (including those in public office) all believe people are motivated only by greed and fear. And they'd like us to share that belief, because they use it to justify themselves and to manipulate us. But you and I have found LOVE inside ourselves and our friends; it's in everyone if we can just wake them up. Spread the word. ¶ Our aggression against Iraq began 5 years ago. Like most wars, it's based on lies. The continuing occupation makes new enemies faster than it can kill them, a strategy helpful only to arms dealers. Let's end the military-industrial complex. ¶ Don't scapegoat the immigrants — they're flooding into our economy only because we wrecked theirs. So-called "free" trade and market are asymmetric, giving investors the freedom to enslave workers. And the market's "efficiency" is a lie — it externalizes costs, perpetuating the inefficiencies of war, poverty, and disease. The corporatocracy is cruel and stupid; let's end it before it kills the ecosystem. ¶ We need government control over business, not the other way around; government should be by and for the PEOPLE. Transparency in government, public financing of election campaigns, trustbusting the news media, and ending corporate personhood would be a good start. Politicians should fear for their jobs; citizens shouldn't fear their government. And most of all, more people must get involved. ¶ Question authority. Carry on the struggle. Hold onto hope. Keep singing. — Eric
