About First Amendment

Biography:
First Amendment was founded in San Francisco in 2003 by Abhay Singh and Mark Nelsen. Alex Rowson joined shortly after and the trio played a number of Bay Area shows and parties, occasionally with guests and temporary drummer replacements (a shout out to Sonny, Colin, Spencer, and George). Following a number of recordings with George Rosenthal at The Complex and a road trip in the Pacific Northwest, First Amendment briefly relocated to New York City where they played a number of shows with keyboardist Drew Parke. Since then, First Amendment has self-released two CDs in collaboration with Sonny and lyricist Claire Meuschke under Mark's own co-founded label, Generic Records. First Amendment is currently planning a final show in Summer 2009.
