After the breakups of their previous projects (Small Arms Fire/Handbannana, Just a Dog, Dirty Little White Boy, etc.), singer Jonathan Aicardi and guitarist Jon Alexander had all but given up on ever finding a rhythm section that was both talented and sane. As Aicardi began writing solo acoustic material Alexander began playing for various funk and rock outfits around San Francisco. This was how he met the extraordinarily talented Oscar Urcuyo.
Alexander and Urcuyo discovered common musical ground while playing in the funk and soul cover outfit Spankhouse Shakedown. When Spankhouse broke up, Urcuyo and Alexander decided to start a new project. Alexander called up Aicardi, who was tired of playing sitting down anyway and the three hit craigslist in search of drummers. This was how they found Ronnie Bucceri.
Ronnie was more used to playing hard rock and metal, but his crisp playing, lightning-fast adaptation to new styles and mellow, down-to-earth personality made him an instant fit. The four began writing originals and the rest, as they say, is history.
12/1/09 - Oscar Urcuyo has left First Born to form his own Latin/Funk/Rock Band.
