   First Church of Storytelling's Blurbs
About me:
On my birthday, April 11th, in the year 2007, I took up a challenge to write a short story a week for a year from my friend Sean Ryan. As of April 11th, 2008, I have 52 completed short stories posted on this site's blog. They are messy, sloppy, ridiculous stories. Give them a shot. At the moment I'm going back and reworking some, coming up with some new projects, using what I've learned over this year for further work. The learning, however, is never done. Please feel free to leave comments, critiques, maybe even a story challenge/request on any of these stories. I'll rock it. That's how I roll. I'll also keep posting things in the future, so check back in from time to time, or subscribe to the blog to get updates. Thanks for stopping by. All the Best, -Jake T.
Who I'd like to meet:
People who like to write, read and give good old fashioned constructive criticism.

Yay!! Jake is back!! Woo hoo!

I just thought I should throw it out that that you are awesome. I don't have time right this moment to commment on all of your comments, so I'll just throw out a catch-all comment that encompasses all of them:
If you weren't engaged, I would SO fly to New York and have coffee with you. Your fiance is a very lucky woman indeed. You pretty much rock.

well, the Queen getting punched in the face would undoubtedly be televised. Which is like film. In a way. Metaphorically. If you wanted to make an allegory you could, I mean.
I was so excited by "punch the Queen" I considered trying to write a children's street game based on the title. Like Kick the Can or Stickball.

Hmmm...what's that sound?

Oh right. It's the sound of you getting lapped.

Holla!

there's something very grammatically confusing about the previous comment. If someone has recently lapped you, it would be equally appropriate for you to ask
"how's it taste?"

Dude, it wasn't that your story wasn't an Angel spin off, it was the epic Madeline Maby Must Die series. It was cute and all, but not knowing either of the ladies, I just felt like the entire thing was one long inside joke. Not badly written, fairly engaging, but I get annoyed after a while when I don't really know the motive for the story, and start imagining a really entertaining premise for why it got written but I wasn't there to witness and ultimately that day dream becomes more interesting than the story itself.
Also, sometimes I just feel like you hate on girls, yo.

Thanks so much for the insightful response - I think that Claire's little blog comment kinda struck a nerve with a lot of really creative people. Especially New Yorkers, new and former.

I'm glad you like the Bowmans! They're finally getting some long overdue recognition. I've never seen Rasputina perform, but I've heard good things (and Sarah's now officially in their band!).

Actually it wasn't. I was just experimenting with hair extensions and body art, but it didn't go so well, as everyone thought I was dressed as Amy Winehouse. lol. I'm glad you liked my costume Mr. Jake, and it's so nice to hear from you.
