The Fédération Internationale des Sociétés Magiques (International Federation of Magic Societies) - FISM™ - is the international body bringing together the world's leading magic societies.
The Federation was created in 1948 and today consists of 82 clubs, both national and international, as well as national Federations which represent over 50,000 magicians from 44 countries.
The aims of FISM™ are:
- to be a leading global platform of magic, committed to the enhancement, promotion and development of the Art of Magic;
- to unify the organisation of magic and to create a central body to whom can be submitted questions in general concerning magic and the interest of the magicians;
- to enhance the co-operation between Member Societies, co‑ordinate their activities, intensify their authority and to encourage the exchange of reciprocal aid and services;
- to develop, promote and preserve the knowledge of the history of magic;
- to fight against exposure and copies of magic acts, effects or inventions, presentations or original routines.
The principal mechanism by which FISM™ seeks to achieve its aims are the organization of the World Championship of Magic™ and the encouragement and support of the organization of Continental Championships of Magic.
