Denise Vertucci and Erik Petersen...
We've done records by Mischief Brew, David Dondero, Witch Hunt, Mutiny, Guignol, NaNuchKa, The Orphans, Evil Robot Us', Chris Neumann, Bread & Roses, Meisce, Can Kickers, The Filaments, Stockyard Stoics, Suicide Bid...and more to come, for sure.
Fistolo derives its name from a mysterious devil in Italian folklore, started with a single demo tape, and just happens to put out kickarse carnivalesque folk punk, pirate swing, crusty klezmer and anarcho-jazz. And yes, I did just invent those subgenres of this wide yet tight-knit musical community known as punk rock. Really, we simply release music that we're excited about - yet feel that there's something truly unique about our artists. Whether they be Australian squatters with fiddles, Brooklyn-based carnies with accordions, or Philly rabble-rousers with acoustic guitars and junk percussion...that catchy mandolin riff you hear whilst riding in the back of your friend's van just may be a Fistolo release!
I think you did a fine job on the genres above there in yer notes...I was thinkin' Folk Punk Irish-Americana, but that doesn't address the Pirates OR the Klezmer OR the Swingers, so I'm clearly off base.
hey glad to be friends with you!! woooooooooo!! yes!!! im excited! comments all around.- i think i'm playing an FDR skate park show with you- just waiting back on the details. i'll send you demo songs im recording the 14th of this month -Ryan Kibby
After an incredible amount of drama, delays, and even more drama, the long-awaited split 7" between Philadelphia's WITCH HUNT and Stockholm's TO WHAT END? is finally available. Two new tracks from WITCH HUNT, picking up where Blood-Red States left off, plus a Rudimentary Peni cover. Aggressive punk with melody. TO WHAT END? offer up three of their most metallic ragers to date, while still retaining the "Swedish Sound" they're known for... Their best stuff yet. This is a split-release between Witch Hunt, Final Attempt Records, and Fight For Your Mind.
