Hello fellow volunteers!
Thank you for your participation in the Funfitness screenings to be held on Saturday June 6th, 2009.
The event will be held at Eastern Kentucky University.
The driving directions are as follows: Directions: Take I-64 East to Lexington, I-75/I-64 (approximately 8 miles) to I-75/I-64 split. Continue South on I-75 Richmond/Knoxville. Travel approximately 22 miles to Richmond and depart interstate at Exit 87 (2nd Richmond exit). Make a left and cross over the interstate heading East on the Eastern bypass you will go through 8 traffic lights and the Coliseum will be on your left. There is a big sign that flashes information that is where you will turn.
Arrival time: You will need to arrive by 8:30 AM in order to receive the orientation and training on how to perform the screenings. An on-site orientation will be given upon arrival on Saturday at the event. If you have not filled out a volunteer form, e-mail - wendyc@fitnessky.org - and the volunteer form will be sent to you along with a training packet. Please reference Funfitness in the subject box of the e-mail and include your mailing address in the e-mail body. You may also get the form and packet on-site the day of the screening.
What to wear: Wear comfortable closed toe shoes (tennis shoes are fine), Khaki or black shorts or long pants and a presentable shirt. You will receive a Funfitness shirt on site. If you bring a camera and would like to take pictures that would be a big help.
Food: Lunch will be provided at the event.
What to expect: We hope to have 100-150 screenings to do for the athletes between their competitions. The events are closely scheduled so we will need to move them through quickly and we may experience downtimes.
I look forward to seeing you at the Kentucky Special Olympics Summer Games.
