   About five dahlias

five dahlias exists as the side-project of Jordan Lewerissa, a Brisbane based illustrator and musician who is currently a part of musical acts tan tan tanuki and HalfKast and The Cure For Everything.

At the moment, the five dahlias project is nothing more than a creative outlet for Jordan's interest in heavier music than that of his other bands. The project is also serving as an experiment in zero-budget home recording and self-educated audio production.

The recording equipment used in this project is humble, to say the least. It consists of an Ibanez AXS32 guitar, an Ibanez TB50R amplifier and a rather old computer loaded with superseded versions of Fruity Loops and Acid. The guitars are recorded into the computer with a partially broken headset microphone.

At the given moment there are vocals on only one (1) of these tracks. Jordan's attempts at vocals are often marred by a deficit in ability/training and a lack of decent recording equipment. As a result, he is usually less than willing to share his vocal efforts with the public.

Jordan is aware that these tunes will most likely be considered quite simplistic and sub-standard to most listeners and his short-falls in production knowledge are many. Feedback is always welcome, provided statements of the obvious are avoided.

Despite the lo-fi nature of the five dahlias workflow, Jordan is nevertheless interested in hearing from anyone who would like to participate in the project. In particular, he is looking for individuals who play the guitar, drums, bass guitar, keyboards or those who have vocal ability. In other words: everyone.

Besides Jordan, five dahlias currently has zero (0) members.

Should you be interested in the artwork on this page, further sample images are available for viewing at Jordan's deviantArt page.

So - enjoy. Or not, as the case may be. No one really gives a toss, anyway.

Now, I know the deal was that you'd release some new tunes if I wrote them for you.

But the thing is that my fingers have swollen to the size of fat person fingers on account of all the fidgeting I've been doing because I'm so excited about seeing Dream Theater and Iron Maiden in...you know, less than a month.

So obviously I couldn't write anything, and until the concerts have both come and gone [oh, and the Interpol concert on the 19th - don't judge me!] I won't be able to write a damn note.

So it looks like your band's future is entirely in your hands now! I'm sorry to let you down like this Jordan, but it's just how the world rolls.

Or rotates, as it were.

Oh, and if you hadn't picked up on it, this was a giant GET SOME NEW TUNES HAPPENING poster from yours truly.

Love and Thunder.

Ahh well, let's go.

My weekend is/has been very "meh". And yes, that's a describing word.

And you? Haven't seen you much recently. What's going down in Jordy Town?

Peace out, muchos love and thunder.

Well dearest Jordan Brain.
Holidays are lacking in excitement for me.

I had a big christmas party last Sunday night. Was VERY exciting. How about I give u a few highlights of the evening.

1. Shanae throws a roasted potato at my head. Food fight ensued.

2. Elara hits a boy with a plastic bottle, who steps back into my mother, who drops a GLUTEN FREE Lemon Meringue Pie, onto the floor and smashes glass everywhere. Everyone starts bleeding.....Blood fight Ensues.

3. We all walk back to the exploded pie....Grab a handful of cream.....Foodfight Ensues.

4. We played Poker, and we all sucked. Fight Ensued.

5. We played Santa swap. I ended up with a chicken mask, Wigger Shirt, and a Toilet brush. Its ok, Someone else ended up with a moving penis. Kinky fight ensued.

6. Elara ended up with her new Manflesh....Micah Brown. He soundslike a Snoopy Character. * I put up mistletoe [Giggles] * Foodfight Ensued.

Now I can't recall other specific details. Just more fghts that end up with us on the floor killing ourselves with laughter.

It's ok, I've spent 12 years trying to remember where to use which of my 2 last names. I only recently got Everything changed to Tarren. Before I was Tarren on anything -legal- and Hewitt at school etc.

I bought three glowing things off Niche, just in appreciation of his singing efforts.

The christmas lights are almost done. One set to go, and yes I do find it relaxing, all that concentration stops u from thinking about things ud rather not.

I might head to bedfordshire....Too many late nights.
Have fun Master Something Jordan Lewerissa.

Jordan, I've been meaning to ask for a while now, but each time I've forgotten. So, here I go.

What, if any, is the significance of the repeating beep in the background of 'Breathe'?

Also, I positively LOVE the keys in it as well. They're absolutely beautiful.

That's all for now. See you next week.

Peace, love and all that Jazz.

OH.

FREAKING.

MAN.

This cd you have given me. It is amazing! It's got both 'Are you dead yet' and 'Ghost Reveries'! Two albums I've wanted for ages but have been too cheap to fork out thirty bucks for!

I love Jordan!

Woooo, and more Warmen! YES!!! You are so marvelous! I am totally coming over, stealing your entire music collection and leaving. After hearing your new song though, of course.

Hope all is going well Jordan, thanks so much again! I really appreciate it all!

Peace, thanks, love and all that Jazz.
