Reading about and checking out new music and then playing it for ya.
My favorite thing to do is probably drive around at night with my friends, listening to music from the old ipod.
Robots
Sushi
Randomly learning useless knowledge, facts and trivia, and the recalling them later in conversation.
Baseball (specifically the Dodgers, but I never know how they're doing)
Making sweet humour.
Delivering hot and cold running justice to the villains in our lives.
Making the world safe for nerds, geeks, wallflowers.
Riot shields, voodoo economics.
Science and other nerd stuff
Pretty much everything (on some scale), to be honest.
Music
What I'm listening to
Regina Spektor, Radiohead, Ben Kweller, (old) Weezer, The White Stripes, Coldplay, The Beatles, Nirvana, Nellie Mckay, Leerone, Franz Ferdinand, the Kings of Leon, Green Day, los Yeah Yeah Yeahs, the Foo Fighters, the Strokes, Phantom Planet, Bright Eyes, Tapes 'n Tapes, Kanye West, We Are Scientists, and Travis.
I like all kinds of different music, as long as it's good. I tend to download one or two songs per band, so my ipod ends up looking busier than it is.
Movies
Lost in Translation; The Lord of the Rings; Star Wars; Anchorman; Saving Private Ryan; Gladiator; Braveheart; The 40-Year-Old Virgin; Grosse Point Blank; Silence of the Lambs; V for Vendetta; Little Miss Sunshine; Children of Men; Airplane; Kill Bill; Pulp Fiction.
I don't really get the chance to see your smaller or more indie movies in theatres, though; I tell myself I'll rent them on dvd, but I'm just too damn lazy. Speaking of, I buy a lot of movies on dvd, but then i never, ever watch them.
Right now the only shows I can even sit through are The Simpsons and the news. My cable went out the other day, and if my brother hadn't told me, I still wouldn't know, but I do like the following shows:
Scrubs, That 70's Show, Law & Order: SVU reruns, Saturday Night Live, The Shield, Prison Break, Mythbusters, Arrested Development, Clone High, Human Giant, How It's Made; basically an embarassment of Fox shows. Two shows that are cool ideas (and also good shows), but I never watch: Antiques Roadshow and $40 a Day. Also, I've kinda developed a crush on Garth Marenghi's Darkplace.
Books
Favorite book of all time:
No offense to Dr. Seuss or anything, but it makes all other books look like they should just be burned. While I was reading about it, I just couldn't stop thinking about it. Before the Middlesex gave my life new meaning, i did enjoy these books:
I saw The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, the movie, and I thought it kinda sucked. Then i read the comic, and it was so good that it almost makes the movie seem tragic. Almost.
Heroes
My dad, Stephen Colbert, Jamie Hynemann, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Beatrix Kiddo.
I'm just Jason. I tend to worry too much about things I shouldn't, and let slide things I shouldn't. I'm addicted to magazines. I have too much patience. Music is my oxygen (I keep a tank of it in my closet, too). I'm an insecure egomaniac, which is a good balance, I suppose. I'm not good at identifying trees (sorry). I procrastinate too much. I doubt myself and am too sentimental. I talk about death a lot (but not too much). I don't care all that much about my material things. I've never had a steady hairstyle in my life. I'm always thinking about everything, and I constantly overthink everything, which is a nice combo. I even think when i'm asleep. Sometimes when I speak or write messages, I can tend to adopt a weird, pseudo-intellectual tone (it just happens). I could probably strike you down with my verbal kung-fu, but I'd have an existential crisis afterward. I like to muck about with the English language. Several people have told me that I'm too easygoing and will some day explode in a violent torrent of pent-up rage, which is cool.
Thanks! Be sure to watch me help Jeff pick up women his own age on a new episode of "Wingman" TONIGHT @ 9pm on FLN (check fineliving.com for your local channel!)
