When five Calgary musicians came together in October of 2004, it was inevitable that a unique sound would be produced from the various background influences that each member contributed. These guys and gals knew that something special would happen with the collaboration of ideas that were coming to the table. Each member has a unique style that causes them to be creative, technical, and progressive with their commitment to music and FiVE STAR AFFAiR.
With Massive Percussion, Funky Chunky Bass, Electrifying Guitar, Explosive Trumpet, Didgeridoo Styles and Captivating Vocals, FiVE STAR AFFAiR creates a versatile, unique sound. Most of the song patterns are written in an intricate weave of different time signatures and interesting linear progressions that keep the energy flowing.
It only took 2 months for the five-some to record and release their first EP, "Better than what you get at home...", working with successful reggae artist/producer IBO, the album is a smooth blend that delivers a reggae/ska/jazz/funk rawk sound.
