About me: I'm a music writer and concert photographer based out of the Orlando, Florida area. I cover a variety of genres, including rock, hard rock, Christian rock, nu-metal, classic rock, reggae, and a few surprises now and then.
The best and worst parts of my job are one in the same--interviewing bands. Sometimes it's a blast, and other times it just sucks. My favorite interviews to date have been Josey Scott of Saliva--a more gracious and accidently funny man has never walked the earth, Sonny Sandoval of P.O.D.--a man with a true passion for following what is in his heart, and Spider One of Powerman 5000--way too smart to be a "rock star." I've had a few disappointing interviews as well, but I'm not going to name names.
My favorite bands to write about aren't always the biggest or best, but rather the bands with a genuinely interesting story behind them as opposed to the typical "how we got to be rock stars" monologue.
As much as I love to hear a good story, I love to tell one too. I've got a few of them. Next time you see me out, ask me to tell you one, and maybe I will. ;)
Who I'd like to meet: I'm always interested in meeting interesting and intelligent people who appreciate a variety of musical genres, great wine, and lively conversation.
I'm not into bimbo's and JAFO's (I don't do the "meet the band for the sake of meeting the band" thing), drunks and party-heads, and people who can't hold a conversation about anything other then how hot the singer is or how drunk they got the night before.
Recently, I added a new song to my music player called, "Always" which might be one of the best songs I've written so far. The chorus was scored for an entire violin section, however, in studio, I had one violinist, Jan "Yes I Can" Sullins. I asked her to single handedly create the sound of a "Hollywood style" string section. This is almost like telling someone, "Please jump rope one handed 10 times while monkeys nip at your feet." :-)
Lucky for me, Jan worked some magic and it's now track 1 on my newly released CD, "Awakening." To celebrate the release, I've decided to give away the track for free. It's called "Always" and you can download it at http://ping.fm/lQt6I
