flanelhed began in 1994 with the creative forces of Murf & Chris. Both good friends since High School. They instantly gelled into a very dynamic writing force. Crossing styles and inspirations, they formed the band right out of the darkness. After playing a gig together for the first time in their lives, they knew they had something. The Bay Area rock scene in the mid to late 90’s was “hot”. Bands played all over to packed houses and so did flanelhed. The band was growing, as was the following.
They released their 1st self titled cd in 1996.
But things changed at the end of the decade. The electric rock, slammin’ music seemed to be going extinct and it showed in the Bay Area. But Murf and Chris did what they always do, write songs they believe in. The styles had changed but the creativity hadn’t. They began playing with acoustic guitars, bass, drums and keys, the sound of flanelhed is stronger than ever. The three new members contributing new energy to flanelhed, established local drummer & longtime good friend, Vince laying down phat grooves and satisfying dynamics. Terry, fresh in from Amsterdam, keeping it together with solid bass lines with character, and Chris Cali, from another planet, (Jersey) adding a new dimension with atmosphere and depth on the keyboard.
They released their un-plugged/acoustic cd "little black dog" in 2003.
Now flanelhed is back plugged in & stronger than ever, spending the last few years focusing on their hard rock/classic rock roots but progressive & modern sound. Now joined by longtime friend & drummer “Evan” They are at their peak of creativity with the release of their new cd “amnesia” I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4..
