  • Bio

Paul Buchanan and his band, Flat Fifth, are a five piece pianocentric outfit that have been making music together for over three years. Loaded with creative energy and talent, Buchanan's songs are an exciting blend of pop, folk and jazz - think Squeeze meets Steely Dan and you're on the right track. Strong lyrics and carefully arranged instrumentation are integral to the band's fresh sound & style.............. Buchanan's first release with Flat Fifth was a self titled six song EP (2006) that commanded loads of attention in Atlantic Canada. It landed them an ECMA 2007 Main Stage showcase, garnered two Music NS Award nominations and gave Buchanan a Number One single for four weeks................... Flat Fifth's first full length album, Alfalfa Honey, is set to be release in Spring 2010 and was recorded at the legendary CBC Studio H in Halifax. The album is a sonic celebration of Buchanan's carefully arranged songs and was recorded by the multi-award winning team of Executive Producer, Glenn Meisner and Engineer, Pat Martin....................... Flat Fifth's live show is explosive and sublime it's wonderful news that they're back playing live in support of the new cd Alfalfa Honey.
