Rocking out in the library, inhabiting the teen lounge, reading magazines, telling the librarians what to buy next, using the computers, checking out tons of books, reading manga, watching movies . . .
THanks for the add, Flathead County Teens! I love libraries and hang out in them all the time. I hope you like my teen novel, BRALESS IN WONDERLAND, coming from Dutton in April. Let me know what you think! Happy holidays! :) debbie reed fischer
Thanks for being my friend. I hope you’ll check out my new tween novel, GIVING UP THE GHOST, set on a haunted plantation near New Orleans two years after Hurricane Katrina.
It’s my dearest wish that my novel’s themes of fear, grief, and forgiveness, leavened with humor and gripped by a ghostly mystery, will bring comfort and healing to young teens living with uncertainty in unsettling times.
KIRKUS says (9/15/07) it has “teen appeal in spades” and is “a good choice for reluctant readers”!
It’s here! Today is NBTBAM Day. Alfred Kropp – The Seal of Solomon is officially on sale.
Yancey has announced that if you read the book and post a short review of it in my comments on MySpace describing your favorite part; you will be entered in a random drawing. Three winners will be selected and will receive their choice of the Alfred Kropp Seal of Solomon t-shirt (there is a picture of it on my page) or a signed copy of Alfred Kropp-The Seal of Solomon. All reviews must be posted by June 10, 2007.
Thanks so much for the add! If you'd like, stop by on Tuesdays to see which midgrade or young adult novelist I'm interviewing for my new Shop Talk Tuesday feature!
Hey, Flathead County Library Teens - hope you're having a delicious long weekend (lots of rest, no chores, and maybe some so bad it's good TV)! Get this -- I've been hearing from readers that they're having problems finding "Celebrity Skin" in stores. Eeek!
Anyway, I know you're crazy busy, but if you could do me a favor I'd be REALLY grateful. Call your local Barnes and Noble, Borders or wherever you shop and request the book -- you don't have to buy it (even though I'd love to hear what you think) -- just let 'em know you want to see it on shelves next time you pop in.
You are the absolute greatest -- and don't forget, if you haven't already entered I'm giving away an autographed copy of CS AND a designer T-shirt through my newsletter this month -- check it out at www.lianebonin.com. Take care! Liane
Hey Flathead County Library Teens! How ya doin? Hope you had a good weekend (I know I did - all I'll say is napping and chocolate-covered espresso beans were involved, and that combination can never be bad)!
As you know, my friend, February means two things - 1) Valentine's Day (the height of romance or totally annoying and too much pressure, you pick), and 2) my first book, CELEBRITY SKIN, finally hit shelves!
Check it out and let me know what you think (be honest, I'm serious!).
And sign up for my newsletter hereif you haven't already -- I'm giving away cool stuff (iPod cases, designer Ts, and yeah, autographed copies). Oh, and I have a good essay contest going on right now, too.
I know, a book release and a newsletter aren't quite on par with the excitement/trauma/drama of V-Day, but I'll never give you bad candy, either ;) - Liane..
Hi Teens and Librarians,
My brand new shiny website is live! I'm so excited. Check it out at www.diacalhoun.com. Let me know what you think!

We have finished putting together our new multicultural show and are about to get serious about production for "Shakespeare Shazam!". Zephyr (our 16 year old son) is excited because he designed the set for the teens room (the set takes up a page of our giant oversized portable book) and he gets to play his electric guitar in the show (might even get to use his fog machine). Mom is going to have fun sewing the challenging costumes (in an RV at some campground non-the-less) and Dad is still polishing and typing the script (luckily Shakespeare did a good portion of it 400 years ago). We'll be debuting the Shakespeare show at a middle school in Florida Feb. 17th. Right after we stop in New Orleans to help Habitat for Humanity rebuild houses.
We'll also be picking up a "boarder" in New Orleans. Zephyr's adopted big sis Ellie is flying in from San Diego to tour with us through April. Should be fun squeezing another person in to our 20' motorhome!
Oh and we all get to yield a sword and fight each other in the Shakespeare show - great family fun! So don't mind us if you see us sword fighting somewhere along the highway between New Mexico and Florida.
Our summer tour to libraries is filling in quite compactly but we do have availability in Spring and Fall. Take a gander at our touring schedule to see if we have any shows near you!

The ever-nomadic Act!vated Storytellers are in Albuquerque, NM – next show at the new library in Rio Rancho 1/17
You are my #1 Friend in the WHOLE WIDE WORLD!! I love the Flathead County Library. Next time you drop in, come and say howdy to the Dude upstairs, there's only one of us...
Thank you so much for the invite! One book I just read that I can definitely recommend is JAILBAIT by Leslea Newman. Chilling story, surprisingly easy to relate to, very well-written, and a valuable cautionary tale. ttys! ~Daria Snadowsky
