Flek C has been pushing nu-skool breakbeat and hardcore breaks sound since 2000.
Leaning towards the more quirky, dark and edgy side of breakbeat, this year sees him moving to a more "mash-up" style digital set.
He now comes armed with breakbeats of mass destruction by way of Ableton Live; mixing and mashing genres, samples and ad-lib breaks on the fly!
Production styles spans all niches of breakbeat from Breaks through to Dubstep, Hardcore Breaks to Drum n' Bass. Collaborations with Dj Nacoa (as Monkey Trouble) and Stu Chapman (Enormous Mouse Records) are testament to the diversity of sounds he represents, plays and enjoys.
Flek C brings beats to those who won't accept the lowest common denominator of music.
"At the end of the day if butts are shaking and people are letting loose on the dancefloor I don't think you should limit yourself to one sound or genre."
He has played in many clubs and outdoor parties around New Zealand as well as a guest appearance at Melbourne's 3D Nightclub for "Rinsed vs Harder >> Faster" also playing support for top international acts including S.C.A.M., Meat Katie, DJ Unknown, DJ Storm, Stu Chapman, Slipmatt and Luna-C.
"I enjoy playing at outdoor parties, I think people are there for a great time ,experience and are genuinely more open. You can get away with alot more musically... not saying i bend my music policy in the club environment but I have had a club owner or two have a polite discourse (not to my face though!) with my track selection affecting bar sales by keeping people dancing and not spending.
Dancing people are happy people! Happy people like to have a cheeky drink... c'mon... where's the problem there? "
