Flesh Fly was formed four years ago by Justus Macdonald and
Matt Underwood. The two met in highschool and instantly
recognized that they complimented eachother well. They soon
began playing together regularly. The later addition of Bob
Lander on the bass moved the band from two guys making rock
and roll to an actual, full fledged Garage Band. Originaly,
Flesh Fly was meant to be a straightforward punk band, but
with each member eventually bringing in their already unique
style, the band has become much more. Flesh Fly now has more
of a songwriter feel to it, playing straight rock with some
punk and some slower, more melodic songs thrown in to create a
nice mix. Flesh Fly's live shows are electrifying and
brimming with energy from start to finish. The band has
independantly recorded several tracks that it distributes to
it's local Sacramento fanbase.
Flesh Fly has performed at Various venues in the
greater Sacramento area including the Library (formerly Bojangles/The Cattle Club) the Jammies and several
Battles of the Bands', all of which it won or placed highly in, as well as the Turtle House in Davis.
Flesh Fly's influences are Rancid, The Misfits, Nirvana, AFI, Sublime, The doors and Sonic Youth. Justus's voice on several occasions has been described as a combination of Jim Morrison and Tim armstrong. At first glance, Flesh Fly is a hard partyin' rock band, but after some examination it is plain to see the artistic edge in the music.
Hi! Just stopping by to let you know that we have finished the album Between Worlds and have posted four new songs from the album on our page. The CD is available at any one of our shows, and will be available for sale online and on iTunes very soon. Also, we have posted some of this summer's dates on our page.
