BackBeat Gigs BackBeat: GTN Artists at SCORCHERFESTGTN Artists at SCORCHERFEST April 26th 2009 What a fantastic day this was at Higher Ground 9 Light SQ, Adelaide. The Global Thunda Network was well represented by the following bands who did us proud.
Flight86: We really enjoyed this band. Their closing tune Pearly Gates (Soul worth saving) was the standout song of the day which had everyone captivated. Dare we say song of the year....................................................................................................!!

Adelaide rock outfit FLiGHT86 has been playing live and recording their original sound for two years, but their musical ties go back 25 years.
In 1984, as Burning Ambition, the band’s members penned original songs and packed out venues all over Adelaide from The Gov and the Findon hotel to the legendary Bridgeway. With airplay on SAFM, the band’s popularity culminated in being selected by the state government for a 21 town six week tour of regional areas to celebrate the state’s 150th Jubilee and expose the rural youth to the workings of a contemporary rock band.
By 1987, various musical and career influences drew the band’s members in different directions, but music was always a part of their lives. Arguably Adelaide’s best duo, Andy and Andy, was born from the lifelong friendship of two of the band’s members. The other members have also been involved in various projects over the two decades since. Combined, this has seen FLiGHT86’s members appear on events with artists such as Kylie Minogue, Tommy Emanuel, and Paul Kelly amongst others. Various members also headlined and featured in interstate and overseas events such as Bells Beach Music Festival (Vic), Woodford Music Festival (Qld) and Magical Arts Festival (USA) and appeared in venues like Sydney and Melbourne town halls, The Espy (St Kilda), Sundance Inn (Falls Creek) and even made TV appearances including alongside Steve Vizard on Fast Forward.
The bond between members was always strong and in 2006 the band reunited. The name FLiGHT86 was chosen to celebrate the band’s new launch, signifying its prominent peak in 1986 and the launching of a new journey of their original rock music through live performances and today’s modern media. With influences like Nickelback, Foo Fighters and Powderfinger and the combination of their own personal musical experiences, FLiGHT86 once again is poised to make its mark on the Australian rock scene.

Thanx to everyone that came along to the HQ Show with Glenn Hughes & Electric Mary. It was an awesome night and Glenn Hughes did not dissapoint.
For all that attended, Adelaide saw one of the most talented & natural musicians on Planet Earth. And Electric Mary from Melbourne put on a powerhouse set of classic aussie rock. If you havent seen Electric Mary, do yourself a favour, they are one of the very few tight, kick ass bands touring Oz at the minute....Killer band!
I know we've said it before, but this will be our last show for a while as we put the finishing touches to the debut album. To be released towards the end of the year.
Hey guys, hope you rocked on at Scorcherfest. Sorry I didn't end up coming, few things went wrong here and there. Definitely interested in the Magill show and will get some tickets from you VERY soon! Take care and rock on!
