| General | If you are also an optimist you probably believe that we all have the same interest, which is to all play our part in creating a better tomorrow in whichever way we choose. At The Flightpath, the crowd isn't too busy discussing "The Revolution". We are more interested in creating the resumes necessary to administer "The Revolution". Afterall, revolutionaries tend to drink a lot of beer, and someone needs to make sure that the recycling gets picked up each week. | | Music | The Bellfuries! And not simply because our barista Jeff is their bassist. | | Movies | Our Netflix is set to "random". | | Television | Television is one of the reasons that we have been around for so long, because, lets face it, you can't get anything accomplished at home when the television, the refrigerator and the bed are all calling your name. | | Books | The Flightpath's favorite books are all the ones that have been written here. We also enjoy reading the code for the E-bay power-search engine, which was also written here. | | Heroes | Juan Valdez. Where would we be without him? We worked out a fair trade agreement with ole Juan, and he is now able to feed his donkey Science Diet "Burro Formula". That is Tina. She is from Lafayette, Louisiana, and is about this big:
There is just something about her that makes you want to put your arm around her. She is as sweet as pecan pie, which her soft Louisiana accent pronounces as "puh-kawwn", whereas the rest of us say "peh-kahn". She recently finished her degree, so please tip her well to prevent any motivation for her to leave us for the job market.
This is Mandy, a first round pick from last year's barista draft out of Sarasota, Florida. That is probably the only time anyone has ever said her name without prefacing it with "The lovely and talented". She is also a certified massage therapist and an accomplished actress. This photo is proof of her acting skills. If you look at this picture, you would never be able to guess that she had just threatened to strangle the guy that wouldn't stop taking pictures of her.
"Whaddaya mean the espresso grinder was already broken? You are the only person who has been behind the counter in the last 5 hours." That would be Jason. New Orleans, Louisiana. His official titles are Chief Financial Officer, Chief Executive Officer, Human Resources Director, and Head Janitor.
"Its too damn bright in Texas. If I didn't have this friggin' job I'd be sleepin' right now." That would be Jeff. Hometown: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Known aliases: "Shecky"; "Balboa"; "Shecky S. Shecky". Also answers to "Hey Yo'". There is just something about that Philly accent that makes you think Jeff knows a few wise guys back on the east coast. He actually knows people from Cleveland. He pronounces "Bagel" as "Beggle". When he calls out, "Y' Beggles ready!", the implication is, "Hurry up and get it before I whack ya!" He is the bassist for the band The Bellfuries, but it is probably all a front set up by the W.P.P. That will be all about Jeff. I think I may have already said too much.
Angie. Italiana. A true Austin celebrity. From Detroit, Michigan, Angie is a woman full of surprises. You might suspect that she makes the best coffee in town, or that she has the best wardrobe in town, or that she has the best personality in town, but you would never suspect that she is also a surfer and a master swing dancer.
This is Sarah. Our "Jane-of-all-trades". Hometown: San Francisco, California. She was a long-time film editor for Ken Burns before she tired of the darkroom. She just finished her masters in architecture at the University of Texas, but that was a couple of months ago. She is now busy displaying her photography portfolio with back to back showings around town. |

About me:
One of Austin's oldest coffeehouses, The Flightpath is a neighborhood cafe located at the corner of 51st and Duval Streets. The atmosphere inside is quiet and constructive, as those who know about us generally consider us to be the place to go to get something done. Many of our customers actually consider us to be their office, and a few have even had their mail sent here.
We also cater to bleary-eyed, Hyde Park hipsters who tell you "good morning" at two o'clock in the afternoon... Oh, and by the way, this is why we call it The Flightpath:
