About me: The date of The Fling 2009 has been and gone..... It was on Sat 4th July for all you who didn't make it and what an amazing time it was!
For those of you who couldn't come along and explore your inquisitive side heres what you missed out on and hopefully won't be making the same mistake again next year!
INDULGE YOUR INQUISTIVE SIDE!
Barhouse Music Stage – Music for The Fling will be provided by (in no particular order) New Town Kings, Cat House, Seven Summers, Matt Herbert and the Heavy Hitters, Electralyte, Sirens at Dawn… Tap those toes and sway those hips!
The Comedy Club Tent – The Comedy Club Ltd will brought along Richard Morton, Andrew Roper, Mandy Muden and MC Miles Crawford who, with their variety of styles, had the audience giggling in no time.
Exotic Dance Tent – A mixture of performances, workshops and freestyling newly mastered dance steps filled this tent for the day. Hustle, Salsa, Belly Dance and Waltz were covered along with a favourite of ‘Dirty Dancing’ fans – the Merengue!
Acoustic Stage – Musicians from the Acoustic Soul Club provided a more mellow music experience including sets from Lizzie B, Sinead Orme, Jamie Williams, the Blue Flowers and others.
Wordsmiths Stage – John Hegley launched proceedings at the Wordsmiths Stage followed by a medley of fellow poets, each one performing their current collection and many of their greatest hits including Josie Long, Joshua Idehen, Rhian Edwards, Dockers MC, Byron Vincent, John Berkavitch, Nathan Penlington and Clare Pollard to name but a few. All the poets joint us at The Fling thanks to the forces behind London’s 14 Hour and Chelmsford’s Howl.
Cabaret Tent – ShakeItDoll.com called upon the services of an exquisite selection of international artistes to entertain and delight you all. Combining the atmosphere of a laid-back tea party, the humour of a Soho Basement and the talent of the European variety circuit, this was an unusual and unrepeatable event! Following their warm reception at The Fling in 2008, London’s Popcorn Club will be returning to the stage alongside Shake It Doll’s line up and a selection of delights from Southend’s Angel in Pocket, all of whom treated you to sights not before seen in Chelmsford’s Central Park.
Fantastical Storytellers – Storyteller Mike Dodsworth brought us the next instalment from his wandering, hounded, haunted, lycanthropic character "The Changed Man" whose message to all is "..don't let it happen to you!". Be prepared to expect the unexpected as he unravels the tale of his epic battle.
Imagination Station will snuck into the Storytellers Tent with lots of noise, colour and a song or two as the audience became a part of the story themselves and embarked on the adventure.
Silent Disco – Void Collective vs Badspeller (Nobody Don’t Dance No More) / DJ Format (Club NME) / Supersonic DJs
Following the huge success of Essex’s first silent disco at 2008’s The Fling, local DJs who are residents at some of Chelmsford’s leading parties battled it out playing a party mix of indie, 80s, hip hop, rock, house, electro and more.
Nibbles and Swigs – A variety of foods and soft drinks from a selection of caterers including traditional English fayre and Leon’s vegetarian delights with a bar laid on by Chelmsford Beer Festival’s Hopleaf.
Sandy Beach, Panic in Wonderland, massage, face painting, Side Shows and more…
We would love for those of you who attended to give us feedback on the festival so visit The Fling at: www.chelmsford.gov.uk/fling
TICKETS sold out on the gate this year which was awesome so for those of you wanting to come next year make sure you pen us in your diary
The Fling is created and managed by the Cultural Events Team at Chelmsford Borough Council and supported by The Meadows Chelmsford, The Essex Chronicle, Essex & Suffolk Water, BBC Essex, Panic Magazine, The Printing Place and High Chelmer Shopping Centre.

well, it has been a long and winding road, and an even longer time coming, but my debut CD, I Remember, is FINALLY HERE!!! YAY!!!!!
to celebrate, American HeartBeat Records(tm) has arranged a FREE DOWNLOAD of Now Is The Time in exchange for a valid email address. Now Is The Time is a brand new, upbeat song I wrote: we are living in turbulent times. suddenly it is okay to be greedy and heartless? no way! a song of hope for our future, a new vision of America and the world.
we have a bunch of exciting things planned to kick this whole thing off, and we need to get a better picture of who our friends are, so the FREE DOWNLOAD form will ask you a few questions, like, what is your country and nearest major city. it all takes maybe 15 seconds.
anyhoo, the FREE DOWNLOAD, and the FUN, begins at www.JAETCHISON.com
I look forward to getting to know you a little better, and I thank you SO VERY MUCH for your friendship and support!
please tell your friends about JAETCHISON.com, and ask them to sign up for the email list, too! FUN things are coming up!!
We've got shows available at The Boathouse, Corner House and Nusha in Cambridge. Message here or email acousticstage@hotmail.com if you're interested in a show or have another enquiry.

Success!! Had a great day, well done to all those who put in the hard work getting it all organised. If there's a chance of being involved next year I'd like to put my name down! Sterling work... looking forward to another one. All the best, Terry @ HMN
Hey, Thanks for the add... Looking forward to coming along and experiencing the experience! A silent disco where you can choose what you listen to through headphones.... wow! I'll be dancing to hard-core drum and bass while others around me will be swaying to some mellow grooves... Look for the guy dancing like an idiot! Good luck with the first Fling!
