This mix is a fun and for us, rare! A disco, funk, soul, house 3 hour mix recorded live at Boogaloo @ Label Manchester in Jan 2008. This has been the DJing Duos’ home every Friday night for the last 5 years. A major feat in a city where clubbing is so fickle, and where the trend in club music changes constantly.

At Christmas 2007 their residency at Atlas has now come to an end after a long and happy stint.
Gareth & Matt have DJed with guests from every spectrum of the house scene, including Yass, DJ Fudge (Troublemen), Dom Navarra (Sueno Soul), Groove Assassin, Audiowhores, Tom Wainwright, Backroomsounds , Player Records Andy Benge, David Dunne (Hed Kandi) to name but a few.
In 2007 Gareth James was lucky enough to play at Pacha in Ibiza, widely regarded as the worlds greatest club, he played in El Cielo in the Funky Room alongside the Pacha residents Graham Sahara and Matt Caseli, this was a proud moment in his djing calender, not to mention playing at Orange Corner and Icarus on San Anotonio Bay.
Throughout 2006 they have played at some pretty impressive venues including EGG in London for Prologue, Disco Electronica @ Sankeys, Miss Moneypennies @ HQ in Birmingham. Gareth James & Glyn Sheriston (abto promotor and dj) have also took their slightly deeper peaktime sets to the fantastic IF in Birmingham at Bushwackers.

Over the last 4 years Flippant Rhythm has also maintained monthly residencies at 2risque, Emporia and Rosettis playing soulful house under the allbacktoours banner. As well as numerous DJ appearances at one of the UK ’s premier club Sankeys Soap The Redlight where they have been billed along side the likes of Louie Vega, Junior Jack, Felix Da Housecat & Mark Farina. A proud moment in their DJ Career.

Gareth James (FR) has had numerous mix shows broadcast on Galaxy 102 & recently he has recently started his own radio slot on www.ssradiouk.com where he showcases brand new soulful & deep house alongside special guests..
He has previously featured on Radio42 Berlin. Gareth James & Glyn Sheriston also co-hosted the official allbacktoours radio show on Pure FM in 2004. Other projects have included guest mixes on Manchester s dance radio show Liquid on ALL FM, The Rhythmic Show on Maeldwyn Radio and London Live and Direct Internet Radio.
how we began -
Flippant Rhythms professional career started back in 1999 when they won a DJ competition at the popular student night Blessed @ The Republic Sheffield (Home of Gatecrasher). They surged through the heats playing their bass heavy soulful house music and winning over both the crowd and the judges. By the final the duo had re-named themselves the Flippant Rhythm Boyz (It sounded good on a heavy night out listening to Humpries & Sanchez at Bed, they say).
They were spotted them & invited them to play at Rhythmic events in Wales , followed by more gigs in Wolverhampton, back to Sheffield to the Fez Club and then to Bed in Sheffield where Flippant Rhythm were on the same billing as Sandy Rivera. The experience gained over the 6 months since the competition was immense, Gareth & Matt also got to warm up for some big names including Paul Bleasedale (Cream) and Rocky and Diesel.
Since 2000 their reputation has developed locally, focusing on Manchester their main residency was every Saturday at Elementals with One Desire. Here they got to play with the likes of Tony Walker & Tom Wainwright. More opportunities opened through Elementals. Gareth gained a residency at Love Happy (in association with The Redlite at Sankeys Soap) and over the following 4 year period had regular guest spots at the world renowned Angel Deelite (no1 club in the North according to DJ Mag).
He was also resident alongside Glyn Sheriston at the monthly Hacienda Revival in Lancaster, where they played 2hr warm up sets for djs such as Tom Wainwright, Graeme Park and Marshall Jefferson.

The Main Mix has a sunny, laidback vibe. The second, "Toolz & Bartos Remix" is on a commercial club tip and the third, "Sunday Morning Remix" is a soulful bubbler composed by Dennis and Daniel and featuring the very talented Ben Edwards (credits include Amy Winehouse, Basement Jaxx, Estelle, Mark Ronson etc.) on trumpet.
