  • Bio

A meticulous fisherman and avid fiddle player, Shane Turner has been at both for a long time. At the age of 10, Shane figured it would be a great idea to get out of class an hour early to play the violin in orchestra at elementary school. This led to honors orchestra the following year, and the opportunity to learn bluegrass fiddle from Teddy Locke during junior high. It was in high school that the fiddle got put to the back of the list with football and a steady girlfriend taking the place. During Shane's Senior Year at the University of South Florida; and a goodbye to the steady girlfriend he got talked into going to the Yee Haw Junction Bluegrass Festival to see his friend Josh's Granddad play the Dobro. It turned out that his Granddad was Uncle Josh Graves and his fiddle player was Kenny Baker. After a weekend of seeing the best in bluegrass right off the bat, Shane set high standards for bluegrass and was hooked. The following year Shane went to work full time for BellSouth in Nashville, Tn. This was unique because of the relationships he had formed in bluegrass kept him busy in many ways. If he wasn't playing down on Broadway after work, he could be found learning sound with Eddie Adcock at the many bluegrass festivals in the Kentucky and Tennessee area. Bean Blossom is where most of the lights went off jamming all the hours and learning from many of the world's best musicians. Back in Nashville there was always a jam going on. It was here that he honed his skills learning with from pros in town by playing with people better than him. This lead to a steady set of lessons from a Florida boy, Mr. Vassar Clements. At the coffee house in Hermitage he could be found along with many of the greats that are on top on top of the world today. The Station Inn is another place that can be beneficial to a player and Shane has spent many a night there at J.T.'s place. Shane plays with major acts ranging from bluegrass to heavy metal. He also has done full stage and lighting production with Avenged Sevenfold, and Hank J.R. His most recent work has encased opening up for Chris Cagle, picking with Avenged Sevenfold, Larry Cordle, Hayseed Dixie, and Big Kenny. This diversity in his fiddle playing and production helps with innovating new ideas and procuring improvisation.
