THE FINAL TEAR

'Twas on a midnight's eerie call
As shadows danced upon the wall,
When children slept and mothers wept
Lovers lied, old men died.
Transfixed upon my bed of dreams
Within my lungs a tortured scream,
Upon her cheek a teardrop shed
A face long gone, a face long dead.

'Twas on a sultry Summer's dawn
In play upon the lush green lawn,
Where children sprawled and mothers called
Lovers kiss, old men reminisce.
Transfixed upon her beauty fair
'Twas there declared my fervent prayer,
Upon this face, I pray to gaze
Until my soul , doth end it's days.

'Twas on an afternoon in June
My heart did sing, my soul did spoon,
Where children cried and mothers decide
Lovers pray, old men decay.
Transfixed behind glass walls I stare
This fruit of loins, such golden hair,
A tear fell that would fill the seas
Ne'er had my heart, 'ere felt such glee.

'Twas on a starlit Springtime night
Upon our life we did delight,
Where children forget and mothers regret
Lovers recall, old men enthrall.
Transfixed within thy gaze, thy charms
As memories unfold in loving arms,
A moment in time, locked in our eyes
Nightingale's sang, beneath lover's skies.

'Twas on a Wintery dismal dawn
Within my soul all life was drawn,
Where children sat and mothers chat
Lovers grasp, old men gasp.
Transfixed above her eternal sleep
In clay so foul, bemired, deep,
From my breast a sigh was torn
Ne'er do I wish another dawn.
