Sounds Like
...Somethin' finer'n frog hair!
Sorta like when one of the fellers sets a tumbler of the "Oh Be Joyful" down in front of you. Take a swaller, feelin' the heat as it works its way down. You think, "A fine drink, no doubt about it", and at the same time, you cain't put your finger on exactly what it is...sames with the music...partial to Americana, folk, and bluegrass, with hints of other stuff mixed about.
Flood Road don't nary play live songs exactly the same. The boys know you get a better recipe by constantly stirrin' the pot an' addin' in new ingredients as you go.
J. Peter Yakel & Flood Road hail from upstate New York, playing an original recipe of “Acoustic FolkGrass”: a blend of Americana, Bluegrass and Folk, with a pinch of Rock-n-Roll for seasoning. Their rootsy song mix cooks up a batch of memorable toe-tappers and eye-weepin’ ballads as varied and unpredictable as the northeast seasons.
The quartet features Tom “The Lion” King on mandolin/guitar/harmonica, Pete “The Treat” Murphy on bass, "Professor" Chris Schultz on banjo and guitar and "Chief" J. Peter Yakel on guitar and vocals.
Tom King's music history dates to the early 80's with fret work in "Negative Space". Later, between solo gigs, he connected with Bernie Gerling in "Technical Difficulties", followed by the "Mountain Minstrels", "Big Bag and the Romulettes" and "King Thom and His Merry Men". Tom's been with Flood Road since March 2007.
Pete Murphy's thumpin' bass took root in a Metallica cover band. Later, he migrated toward jazz and blues, and put his talents to work with Capitaland notable bands such as "The Tri-City All Stars" and "Voodoo Runner". Pete's been with Flood Road since September 2007.
Chris Schultz's music history dates back to the mid 70's with the country bluegrass band "Schoharie Turnpike". Later, he formed the Rotterdam Junction based"Waterwitch" band. In the mid'90's, Chris formed the edgy acoustic folk rock band "Mooncat", and has played with them since. The Professor has been in Flood Road since December 2008.
J. Peter Yakel's music career began in his childhood, learning from with his mother, a Capital District church organist for over 60 years. Progressing thru a decade of alto, tenor and bari sax in school bands, Yakel moved on to electric with a lefty Fender Strat. In short order, rock sessions with schoolmates, including Vincent Zandri (The Blisterz), and noted Capitaland artist Mike Eck (The Ramblin' Jug Stompers) took over. Numerous garage bands followed, and later, varied music collaborations evolved while Yakel was stationed at military bases in the US and Europe. Easing back from electric to acoustic, Yakel founded Flood Road in 2006.
The Boys and their homegrown music have flourished since then, and since 2009, the band has hosted the annual Rhythm on the Ridge Music Fest at Maple Ski Ridge, in Rotterdam, NY.
Past Flood Road Alumni include Jon "Banjovius" Belcher, and "Blueberry" Dan Johnson.
Homegrown music...easy to enjoy...that's Flood Road.

I did 2 songz, then audiance asked for an encore..i performed Prince Can't Rhyme, 10 Weed Commandments, then Bow 2 Da King. My Biznezz partner, and group member The Rover, backed me up..I was his hype man when he performed. He did 2 new bangers, my favorite of the two was Rover why you singer for? I chilled with my dude A-Light yesturday in the day time, mid afternoon..did some promo, and computer work for him. We smoked some dutches, listened 2 some music, and watched this ill movie, Demon Warriors..that shit waz crazy. It waz about obtaining power the wrong way, and Karma. A Very special friend from da myspace world came through and chilled..we chilled, talked about some bizness moves in the future (magizine work), politicz, life, smoked some good Cush. She was excellent company. I played about 6 or 7 games of handball in Washington Park, b4 I went out 2 perform yesturday. Had an excellent time. Saw my DVD Producer and co-star today, 50 Styles at the library in the State Building on Madison on the 7th Floor. I watched our new DVD out in the Streets Right NOW-The King of Albany...my boy Young White was on it..saw it yesturday, then saw him in the store 10 minutes after I watched him on DVD. As usual me and 50 styles performance was excellent..say my boy Prince Reheem on it, then saw him today at library! You will get your Copy of dvd Ms. X. Thanks God 4 all the love I've gotten on the film Im in about Saint Rose College in Albany on You-Tube with Matt. Someone hit me up on myspace and put me on too it. Fresh from The Studio-New Song Coming: 'Divine Inspiration'
Just came back from the studio..recorded a new song called "Divine Inspiration"..it waz produced by a friend of mine and producer and rapper Mr. Chritian..He loved it and marveled over how fast i did the track..I recorded the entire song in 3 takez...The first take I did the hook, verse, hook, verse, hook! The next take I did add-libz, and double upz, and then one more track 2 tighten it up. So everything waz done in ONE take, Im not into punch in and punch out, you lose the flow of the flow, at least I do you dig! The track waz Crazy, as soon as I heard it, I knew it waz a Trillion Dollar Hit. Mr. Christian Loved what I did with his track. He also kept commenting on the time I took 2 do the track "Damn you did the shit, quick"..he rapz also, so you know I had 2 show off a little, by doing it in One Take you dig. He Waz a Great Producer 2 Work with. We wil get together and work on a couple of more songz in the future you dig!
As usual with this Song Expect from me what I bring 2 the Game: Wizdom+Hot Beatz+Hot Flowz+Smooth Azz Swagger+BK!!!!!!!
