From the mid 1990’s to the early 2000’s, Denton, TX based Floodwaters brought their unique brand of southern rock sprinkled with twang and funk around Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. The bands began as Houston, Texas natives Todd Butts and John Dybala got together with Will Chen (also from Houston) and Austin, TX’s Adam Kelley. The friends met at the University of North Texas all expect Adam studying music. The original line up gigged around the North Texas area and were regulars at Cool Beans in Denton, TX. A few years in, Adam parted ways with the band and Floodwaters began searching for a new bass player. Fortunately, Zack Felton had been waiting in the wings for his shot and took advantage of the opening to join the band. Floodwaters took nearly a year hiatus writing new material and inducting Zack into the band. In the late 90’s, Floodwaters began playing a handful of shows on the road hoping to stretch beyond their North Texas roots. However, in the early 2000’s the band decided to call it quits. This page serves as a tribute and archive of the band and its members.
