!!!!!SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!!
The Floozies, after long heart-to-hearts with each other and God, have decided they will be wearing purity rings for the rest of their lives. Sorry ladies. And Mark will be wearing two purity rings, one on each middle finger. As a band, they realize that "purity rings" are kind of contradictory to their band name, but they figure it's more important to be as much like the Jonas Brothers as possible.
"Well," says Matt. "We're trying to follow in the tradition of other bands of brothers, like the JoBros and Hanson. Everybody knows that our close friends the Jonases are wearing purity rings, and I can't remember whether Hanson was, but God knows they weren't getting laid either way. So we've decided to stop with the coke orgies and we'll be holding special purity parties after every gig. Free punch and pie, but only if you're pure. Teehee!"
The decision to "go pure" seems especially important to Mark -
"I'm sick of waking up and having my car smell like sex," he says. "It's getting ridiculous. I mean, what about when I meet my Mom for lunch and shit. I get out of the car, smelling like really wild, experimental sex, and then walk into Panera to eat a fucking veggie sandwich with my Mom. I just can't do it anymore. I don't want to wind up like Tommy Lee or something."
The Floozies will continue to tour and bring the sexy grooves, but apparently that's the only sex they're bringing.
"The Floozies, at times, engage the listener in panoramic visions of the transcendental backbone of space in which the Essence of Music itself resides." -Tommy Dimmel of KJHK 90.7
The Floozies are a live looping duo made up of brothers Matt and Mark Hill. After forming in January 2008 in Lawrence, KS, they’ve gone from rocking house parties in their hometown to sharing the stage and collaborating with the likes of Galactic, Lotus, Perpetual Groove, Particle, edIT (Glitch Mob), Vibesquad, EOTO, Euforquestra, and many others in countless venues all over the Midwest. Their shows are an exercise in groove exploration, as they improvise their way through funk, hip-hop, and electronic music, bending and molding beats in new ways every night. Nothing is pre-recorded, nothing is planned, and no one performance is ever the same as another.
Their new album, “Lunar Real Estate,” shows that they are skilled instrumentalists that know how to produce a fresh, slamming, electronic beat symphony that is simultaneously primal and compelling. It features 13 studio-produced tracks, some produced solo by Matt, some collaboratively, and some, for the first time, solo by Mark. It also features cover art designed by rising graphic design star David Bywater (byh2ographics.com). Does it sound like their live show? Nope. Their live show experience is nothing like a studio album, and that’s the way it’s supposed to be.
That live looping is awesome! The lead singer from The Dudes of Lord also plays the MiniKorg with a Khaos Pad, 505 Sampler & Technics Turntables with Numark Mixer. He said he was inspired by this video, and he couldn't wait to talk with you in person about crafts @ The Vollrath Tavern show!
