Après avoir entraîné son public à la recherche du 6ème sens dans son précédent
CD, Florence Chitacumbi lui offre aujourd’hui un voyage dans les paysages mêlés
de la soul et de la musique africaine, à travers un nouvel album aux couleurs
métissées et aux timbres acoustiques.
Son titre, Regards croisés, annonce la couleur : celle de l’amour, de la découverte
de l’autre, de la relation amoureuse sous ses formes sensuelles et spirituelles,
qui imprègne tous les titres de ce nouvel opus. Mais il évoque aussi la propre
dualité de Florence Chitacumbi, Angolaise née en Suisse, éprise de funk, de groove
et de jazz et retournant (en faisant escale aux Caraïbes…) aux sources de la musique
black, ainsi que les nombreuses rencontres d’hommes et de femmes aux multiples
racines qui lui ont permis de forger son style et de nourrir son inspiration.
De ce mélange de musiques et de traditions aussi naturel que créatif sont nées
ces chansons originales (à l’exception d’une reprise, L’appel de ta peau, tirée
du Healing Song de Glenn Ferris, et accueillie avec émotion par son auteur) aux
mélodies et aux rythmes pleins de chaleur, chantées en français ou en kikongo
(dialecte angolais), et superbement servies par les sonorités croisées des guitares
de Laurent Poget – le complice de longue date –, d’Yves Ndjock et de N’doumbe
Djengue (basse), et des percussions de Valéry Lobe. Un combo en or encore renforcé
pour l’occasion par un invité de marque : le fameux percussionniste MINO CINELU,
séduit par le projet et qui y apporte sa touche légendaire.
Cet environnement acoustique de cordes, de bois et de peaux permet à Florence
Chitacumbi de revisiter sa voix et de nous en faire entendre ici toute la palette
et toute la sensibilité. Un album de maturité, à la fois aérien et ancré dans
la réalité, qui danse avec les émotions aux rythmes du coeur.

Angolan origin speaks about love at the crossroads of soul and African music.

Having led her audience in search of the “6ème sens” in her previous CD, Florence
Chitacumbi now offers it a journey through the varied landscape of Soul and
African music, through a new album of mixed colors and acoustic timbres.
Its title, “Regards croisés”, announces the mood: that of love, the discovery
of the other, the love relationship in its sensual and spiritual forms, which
pervades all the tracks on this new opus. But it also evokes the duality of
Florence Chitacumbi, Angolan born in Switzerland, loving funk, groove and
jazz and returning (through the Caribbean stopover…) to the sources of black
music, as well as numerous encounters with men and women of multiple roots,
which allowed her to forge her style and feed her inspiration.
From this mix of music and traditions, as natural as creative, these original
songs came to birth (except for one: “L’appel de ta peau”, from “Healing Song”
of Glenn Ferris, and greeted with emotion by its author), songs with melodies
and rhythms full of warmth, sung in French or Kikongo (Angolan dialect), and
superbly served by the sounds of guitars of Laurent Poget and Yves Ndjock,
N'doumbe Djengue (bass) and Valery Lobe (percussion). A golden combo further
strengthened by a notable guest: the famous percussionist MINO CINELU, seduced
by the project and adding to it his legendary touch.
This acoustic environment of strings, wood and skins allows Florence Chitacumbi
to revisit her voice and make us hear its full range and sensitivity. An album
of maturity, anchored in reality, dancing with the emotions to the rhythm
of the heart.
