"Melbourne 5 piece outfit Flow and Plenty are sure to cause a stir with the debut self titled EP. The seven track gem is a contemporary, easy, listening, bluesy, hip hop record, that should please not only the harshest hip hop critic, but also lovers of live music and local bands. MC/Vocalist Noah MC Marley switches effortlessly between soulful vocals and razor sharp rhyme schemes in his raps, to forge a unique sound and identity in the Melbourne scene. The band has a rare cohesiveness that not only sounds great live, but translates perfectly to a record...Flow and Plenty are surely an act to look out for over the coming months; catch them live intimate venues around Melbourne while you still can!" ****BoltzBuzz Magazine

Flow and Plenty were forged in the heart of Fitzroy on stage at the Evelyn Hotel's hip hop night in May 2006. This exciting collaboration of artists from Melbourne's improvised music scene and accomplished circus performer/rhymer Noah MC generate an original blend of Hip Hop, Roots and Vintage Soul. Flow And Plenty emerged from Fitzroy's vibrant music scene, cutting their teeth at the same venues as TZU, Blue King Brown, and The Cat Empire. The band draws its inspiration from artists such as The Roots, D'Angelo, Miles Davis, Skunkhour, Common and Fat Freddy's Drop. Featuring Noah MC Marley (Vocals), Jules Waters-Lynch (Keyboards), Cesar Rodrigues (Guitars), Michael Story (Basses) and Silas Gibson (Drums).
Flow And Plenty blend a strong, positive message through their lyrics with well crafted musical statements. They create a fine tapestry of jazz, hip hop, soul, RnB and blues woven through meticulous song arrangements. This has been captured beautifully on their self titled EP which has just been released independently. The recording was a collaboration between the band and some of the best engineers, mixers, musicians and visual artists in Melbourne, to create an authentic artistic statement about the music they love.
The self titled EP is the culmination of over a years work of gigs, rehearsals, writing and tweaking. The band walked into the studio in July 2007 to lay down six tracks with John Castle at 'The Shed' recording studios. After a lot of hard work and invaluable support from people who helped out on the project, Flow and Plenty have produced a work that they are all very proud of. Many thanks go out to everyone who has supported Flow And Plenty, especially, John Castle, Monty Mackenzie, Adrian Shaw, Jo Carra (Crystal Mastering), Bec Newman (Photography), and Pip and Joel...

Spring is here and so are the butterflies! This week I have a gallery of a particular group of butterflies called Brushfoots. Brushfoots are the most commonly known and encountered of the large colorful butterflies (excluding the swallowtails) found in Florida and the Americas. These include the monarchs, fritillaries, buckeyes, and the viceroy below (who has nearly identical markings as the toxic monarch butterfly) to keep it from being eaten by birds.... cool trick, huh? :-)
Click the butterfly below to see my gallery - and please let me know what you think!
