This song has a great groove from the very beginning. You can immediately feel an original way of expression, born “in the hands”, in a natural way, full of experience, of skill. It doesn’t try to be forced into a particular style, and for this reason it is unique and spontaneous. An excellent hit from the very first beats, then the fat bass comes in, making all the dancing cells in our body move. Hips are incontrollable, feet are gone, hands start to tap crazily on the keyboard deleting all the work already done. The rapping voice shows lots of style and a strong territorial echo, it brings to mind England, London, with a strong or forced accent, but it doesn’t matter, the result is what counts. The best part is yet to come, though, so towards the middle we find a woman (Alessia Ciccone)singing a typical melody of the Naples , but so well integrated with the rhythm to sound Jamaican in slang and tradition. “Figli del Sud” presents a double-face style, as one part is suitable to dancing, the other is suitable to read a book, as it’s very easy to listen to (and yet your hips will continue to pulse and beat).
FlowerPeace&NunzioCiccone have under their belt 15years of underground music both in Italy & UK (London).Their music began in 1992 in NAPLES (south italy)the very first rockband coming from Secondigliano-Scampia(call 167-GOMORRAH)with original songs punkrock .After play all over Italy in the most important event e club,they moved to Milan in 1996 and living in student squat call Metropolix,one of the best experience with other 50 people.In Milan they start a deep research throughout the music ,where in one set of electronic/rock and a mix of rap liric, they playing regularly in different rave and squat party( LIKE the Bulk -the COX in Milan).Following the encounter with a tibetan lama,the lama inspired to change their name into FLOWERPEACE,for bringing a message of PEACE ,LOVE,RESPECT FOR NATURE,HEALING IN THE WORLD.They moved to London in 2000 and they have since play live and also djing in various events.

Headlining the New Year party we welcome back Mark du Mosch. This will be his third time at Slabs so it's fair to say that we have much respect for the Rotterdam artist. An obsessive collector, Mark's DJ sets manage to be intriguing and hard rocking in equal measures, and we really couldn't think of anyone better to headline the New Year extravaganza.
Joining Mark will be fellow Rotterdamer Ricky the Dragon, performing a rare live set as Electrick Dragon. Having put out records dating right back to the early 90s (under many many aliases), Ricky carries with him some proper techno credentials. With his most recent output on Moustache Records he has produced two epic synth party bombs that are now firm favourites of ours. We first caught the Dragon live show at the Magic Waves festival earlier this year and it blew us all away, and so are delighted to welcome Ricky to Glasgow for his first Scottish performance.
And finally, making the trip up from Brighton will be the Italo battle axe Casionova. Over the past two years Casionova has become a permanent fixture at Slabs of the Tabernacle. His DJ sets are straight from the heart affairs and again we couldn't think of a better guest to see off 2009.
