Flowers For Francis (FFF) formed in 1988/1989 in Rotterdam, Holland. It has been a while, so the exact date is too hard to remember.
The band played throughout the whole country and the line-up changed quite a lot.
Time after time only the brothers Henk (voice, lyrics, drinks, chemicals) and Johan Visschers (drums, guitar, programming, songwriter, water, cookies) survived.
The music, or maybe better, the sound, differs during these changes. But it was always influenced the most by Joy Division, New Order and Sisters of Mercy. Dark, straight to the point, a touch of wave, and a bit cynical. And on stage you could expect anything; moods could swing in no-time.
One of the best known line-up was: Roland (guitar, fraaie noten), Oele (bas, pisrichel), Henk (voice, lyrics, drinks, chemicals) and Johan (drums, water, cookies).
They did two reuniongigs in 2004 and finally closed that chapter of the book.
But..., there was another line-up that was quite succesfull too: 'the brothers Reed' as they were called by insiders. Yes, we're talking about Henk and Johan.
This line-up was better known as the electronic-bits-and-pieces-years. Together they did quite a few gigs as well, which can be qualified at least as remarkable, indeed.
This little freaky corner of the world wide web focusses on this very last line-up: Henk and Johan and their boxes of pleasure.
This site is also the official Flowers for Francis-website. There might be some news to read, some gigs to see in the future: you just never know...!
Just remember to start tapping your feet and nod that worn-out head! Open your mouth and give it up for: Flowers for Francis!
Oh, and since we're here anyway, we'd like to thank Ruud for watering the Flowers while we were gone... Cheers man!
