EVENTS...
7 IRREGULAR NIGHTS ....
We're invoking the Flowers 5th commandment - 'Repetition Is Boring'. Which means that some of our events will shift venues, shift dates etc. But here's the latest...
THE MELODIC RECESSION - directly inspired by The Echo Session. If you’re going to spend a few quid seeing live bands, we’d recommend The Melodic Recession. No crap bands, no rip off promoters. Launch night is Sat 27th June at Pivo Pivo. The full bill is THE ECHO SESSION, The Only Jones and The Lonely Fires.
SEDITIONARIES - traditionally the first Saturday every month @ the 13th NOTE
- revolutionary music that inspires...
ARE FLOWERS ELECTRIC? - launched June 2009 @ the 13th Note. Directly inspired by the electro pop genius of Nevada Base. It'll be back soon!
UNDER THE PAVING STONES - traditionally the last Saturday every month @ PIVO PIVO...
- a collection of underground alternative sound
NEW DAWN RISING - an oldie from the Beat Club that we've relaunched at The V Club, which is the former Beat Club in Sauchiehall St. Pretty damned similar to Seditionaries and Under The Paving Stones. Might be the last Friday every month. Might not. Featuring some of our favourite new bands. Free admission to the aftershow club.
INFORMATION LIBRE - second Saturday every month @ PIVO PIVO. Usually!
- NEVER MIND the BANS, HERE'S THE PEOPLE'S MUSIC, UNCENSORED AND LIVE
This event was started for bands in Glasgow who keep getting banned from venues. We don't always agree with those bans. This is rock'n'roll, not accountancy.
THE MESCALINE BALLROOM - a psychedelic, baggy trip that has toured several venues in Glasgow...
Plus sporadic events all over the place and our original nights:
THE DARKWAVE OPERA - Flowers In the Dustbin's original event, inspired by the rock'n'roll genius of KICK TO KILL and featured some of the most inspiring alternative bands in Glasgow. Started off in Barfly back in 2007, the 13th Note, then a residency of several months @ The Beat Club. Crept back into it's lair for a while. Last one was Fri 29th August 2008 @ The Captain's Rest. Like Freddy Kreuger, it keeps coming back though.
THE SOUND AND THE FURY - occasionaly we revert to our PUNK roots. See also 2008's anti T In The Park event - Punk IN THE DARK...
