It's really hard to say when and where the journey began but the recap goes something like this:
I had the priviledge of being a spectator of this thing called HIP HOP since the earliest days of its inception. Like most, I observed and learned all apsects of the culture (MCing,DJing,Graffitti art,breakin') before my serious participation as an artist.
'93-'96 I was member of the the eclectic rap group THE NASTY AFRIKANS(ABLE, THADD G, RED-ONE, Larry Lar). We held the distinction of being the FIRST local group of Hip Hop artists to perform with established jazz musiscians at the Kentucky Avenue Renaissance in Atlantic City. It was with this collective of talented artists that my knowledge of all apects of music production and the music industry would begin to flourish.
'97-2003 I was fortunate enough to co-host with THE ILL NINO(of THE BEAT CONDUCTORS) two radio Hip Hop mix shows on 91.7 WLFR, UNDERGROUND SOUNDS and LIQUIDATION. Both shows featured LIVE turntablism,interviews, social commentary, and unsigned artist demo segments, but it was LIQUIDATION that held the distinction of giving voice to the poets of the growing spoken word artists movement.
2003 to the present I've dedicated my energy to the entire community of spoken word artists (MCs, poets, and singers)that attend my monthly open mic series, The FLOW SESSION. Now in it's fourth year, the session has held the distinction of being the most successful open mic series in Atlantic City. What more can I say? Stay tuned..."
I am now doing Thursday night's at Sherlock's in Galloway. This Thursday's theme is WHERE DID THE MUSIC GO WRONG? Between acts we'll be discussing what happened to radio and original music.
