(Flamenco Fire, Finesse, Eastern Spice)
This cd is a New Jazz fusion, Flamenco,
Spanish and Brazilian Classical music, with a slice of East Europa.
Within are popular songs from jazz greats such as Olé from John
Coltrane and
Armando's Rhumba from Chick Corea. Solo classical guitar music from
Heitor Villa-Lobos beautifully arranged for David's bass clarinet, the
violin of Madeleine Easton , bassoon of Fiona Troon and cello of Ivan
Hussey. There are also telling interpretations of Concerto d'Aranjuez
and Zapateado by Joaquín Rodrigo. International piano star Julian Joseph's presence is felt, and our original and intense flamenco input comes from
one of Europe's most special flamenco guitarists Tim Schicoré. Not to
mention performances from the likes of Mark Mondesir on drums, and
contributions made by great musicians from the music scenes of London
and Bremen... 'East to South' has a neuvo-european feel about it, moving
through the Caribbean and South America...capturing the Gipsy spirit of
those from the East who brought their music to Spain and Southern
France, having an important part to play in the creation of what became
Flamenco.
