Fluent Skateboards is a company based in Los Angeles, California. The original intent of Fluent was to have a crew for a friendly rivalry between Joshua Abernathy and some friends in Westchester. The original crew grew to the small size of about four and once Josh and his friends graduated from middle school, the skateboard crew Fluent would seemingly cease to exist. Most of the original members stopped skating but Josh's love for skateboarding only grew stronger and so did the dream of Fluent Skateboards becoming a reality. While attending high school in Cerritos, Josh was introduced to what would be Fluent's new team consisting of Nico Govea, Lawrence Hong, Michael Leon, and himself. About a year after the team was created there was the addition of Phillip Ceja. Shortly thereafter, all of Josh's savings had paid off and he was able to afford the first shipment of Fluent boards. His parents saw he was serious so they decided to help the dream become a reality. Filming for the first Fluent video had begun, it was not quite a full-length film but a lot of fun. After the premiere of "Appetizer," Michael Leon parted ways with Fluent to begin a new chapter in his life. Upon departure Michael left us with two parting gifts. The first filmer for the greater part of "Appetizer," Thomas Blair, and a new filmer, Ilja Maran, whom he had known through Gallery Boardshop. Eventually, Fluent received another gift in the form of a contributing filmer, Steven Ban. Following up, Fluent happily welcomed Gabriel Lopez and Roy Foner to the team. Ever since then Lawrence, Phillip, Nico, Gabriel, Roy, and Joshua have been skating and filming with Ilja, Steven, and Tom for the upcoming Fluent video. So be on the lookout for the approaching video from Fluent Skateboards!
