   About Flux Information Sciences
FLUX INFORMATION SCIENCES was founded in 1997 by Tristan Bechet and Sebastien Brault. Based in Brooklyn, New York, Flux Information Sciences produced 3 self-released records: VOLT (LP, 1997), SERVICES (CDR, 1999), and SUMMER (CD, 2000). F.I.S. 4th album, PRIVATE/PUBLIC, was released on Young God Records in 2001.

This page overseen by Trztn and administered by serenta THIS IS THE STORY: Sebastien and i (Trztn aka Tristan Bechet) met in art school in Marseilles, France. At the time we played in a decayed lounge band called TWA - mainly to fishermen and the miniscule art and music scene. Then One day i stumbled upon the annual report of an information technologies company called "Volt Information Sciences". The report carried a particular charisma with its funky logo, imagery , and coorporate language which sparked a fantastic curiosity. As an information technologies and human resource company, Volt functioned as a powerful social and economic motor, but remained invisible to the individual because it had no specific product to sell; existeing in a vacuum of sorts, in a parallel sphere, spinning its wheels. The ambivalence between a concrete functionality and a diffused, discreet mode of existence was fascinating - so we fetishized, and created a sort of "music" using the annual report as a "script". The wheels of imagination were set in motion: we decided to go to New York City to propose a joint project with the actual company. That project consisted of a tour combining all of Volts technological innovations and services, our music and visual ideas, culminating on stage as part of an audio visual "show" of the company - a type of infomercial. Sebastien at the time was working as a shepherd in the french alps, so I hurridely set out to pave the way and set up a meeting at Volt's headquarters in NYC. Then the day came, we met with their lawyers, we pulled out our tape machines and paperwork. In retrospect their answer was not surprising: "NO" was the word, but their longer explanation was that their shareholders simply wouldn't know what to think - and THAT is who buys their "product". Our theoretical intentions were not subversive nor conciliatory, but ambivalent - an art with no end - no art - for nothing - for everyone. We all know that shit don't work with people with cash. Nowadays all kinds of artistic/corporate collaborations occur. lately the fillmaking group that did the Zidane movie in collaboration with Addidas springs to mind as an awesome piece. By the way, Volts current website is not half as cool as their more vintage brochures and identity logos. So... the project was dumped and we set out to do a record in dedication to the project called "Flux Information Sciences - A Dedication to Volt". it was the finest piece of experimental music i've ever done - i have one 12" record left - i'll sell it for a mill. Then the rock band followed. Flux was always idyosyncratic, violent, urgent, devoid of rock cliches and compelling. Here on the myspace page are the last recordings we did. After the Volt record we released Summer and then Private/Public on Michael Gira's Label Young God records. Phil Hernandez was our first drummer, then Derek Etheridge (P/P) then Shiobhan Duffy (she played in God is My C0-Pilot and discovered Devendra when he opened up for us in L.A.)Christopher Pravdica joined and played bass and guitar for the last 2 years. Now he's my partner on the current thang: SERVICES. we're recording a new record and it will be poppy - because its hard to do. Flux ran its course - every drop of blood was accounted for - so long
