The window fan I had when I was 5. The sound of tires on a steel deck bridge. Aging machinery in various states of disrepair. The following is a list of artists who came before and whom I respect greatly, it is not necessarily a list of artists that sound anything like Convair: Wire, Colin Newman, Bruce Gilbert, He Said, Dome, Duet Emmo, P'o, Cupol, Loop, Main, Cabaret Voltaire, Richard H. Kirk, Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada, Skinny Puppy, Swell Maps, Band of Susans, Severed Heads, The Hair and Skin Trading Company, Swans, My Bloody Valentine, Spacemen 3, Seefeel, Cocteau Twins, The Orb, Laika, Slowdive.
Sounds Like
Retired defense industry employees on speed. Malfuntioning avionics. The pure hum of velocity. Nuclear powered aircraft and ghosts of pilots lost at sea.
All props at full throttle. Testing the limits of the airframe.
Convair is comprised of one man, several guitars, and a laptop. Founded in a shack in rural western NY state, refined in various locations around the Houston, TX area, Convair is currently planning to move yet again. Not that anyone cares.
Dammit Jon, y'know what? I just thought I would let you know that I am considering buying some old Beat Happening albums on amazon--the group that I thought that sounded like a bunch of retards around a campfire..and here I am thinking, yes,I need this, all these years later...my how tastes change (that and a lot of contemporary indie rock is weak, altho it's kinda makin a come back...) just thought you would get a kick out of this....
I think it's time to take my combined forced of Philosophy and MFA and....be a bum 4 a while...unless of course I can be a spy or something...god knows what the future will bring for l'il ol' me...
Hey amigo, sorry about the missed phonecalls over the weekend. It was a pretty busy one for me. This weekend, lets do something....musical! i.e. get together and master some songs.
