Jennifer Fox explains the poignancy of her self-developed filming technique "Pass the Camera" which she uses in her latest film "FLYING, Confessions of a Free Woman."
Never before in our collective human history have so many women had such autonomy to construct a life of their own creation. Yet, the terraine is still rocky and 'choice' does not necessarily bring happiness, let alone freedom. Meanwhile, old models of femininity still haunt women everywhere.
In this six-hour tour de force, FLYING: CONFESSIONS OF A FREE WOMAN, master storyteller Jennifer Fox lays bare her own turbulent life to penetrate what it means to be a free woman today. As her drama of work and relationships unfolds over four years, our protagonist travels to over seventeen countries to understand how diverse women define their lives when there is no map. Employing an ingenious new camera technique, called “Passing the Camera”, Fox creates a documentary language that mirrors the special way women communicate. Over intimate conversations around kitchen tables from South Africa to Russia, India and Pakistan, she initiates a groundbreaking dialogue among women, illuminating universal concerns across race, class and nationality. Part delectable soap opera, sociopolitical inquiry, and narrative experiments, FLYING sweeps us up into an addictive international adventure chronicled with sincerity, innovation and elegance.

A CALLING We know this world is requiring a lot of assistance to overcome the difficulties that we now face as a humanity. For change to happen, it must begin with each of us. Part of this healing is for us to become more generous with our time, more loving towards each other, and kinder to ourselves. With these small gestures of kindness, we begin to shift and see the changes we seek.
(Idea: you can print out this card and pass it around)
What do you think about instead of buying that extra little something for you again, you use that money for the orphans? During your time of generosity, think good thoughts projecting them out into the world replacing negativity into positive change through action.
RAISING MALAWI IS ALSO CURRENTLY SEEKING -Sun hats, -Sunscreen (partially used is ok, but not expired) -Sunglasses, UV -Long-sleeved shirts, sizes from children to teens. Used is ok, just make sure the items are clean and in very good shape.
Also, vegetable and legume seeds are good to send. How about going to your local hardware store, or garden variety shop and see if they’ll donate the season’s left over seeds, or sell them to you at cost?
TASK FOR THE WEEKEND IS TO MAKE A CARE PACKAGE AND SEND IT. Monetary donations can be money orders or checks made to Raising Malawi. How about getting your friends involved collecting $5 or so each?
REMEMBER, EVEN SMALL DONATIONS CAN MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE!! Thank you.
