History of Flying Debris
Founding member and original Bass player, Dan Stone, visited a college friend living in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin on Easter weekend, 1988. This happened to coincide with the opening of the Walworth County Raceway (a 1/4 mile oval dirt track). It sounded like a fun thing to do so they went. There was one race car with the following warning on its trunk lid: "Watch Out For FLYING DEBRIS!"
Dan: "It just sounded dangerous. Like he would be running at the red line the whole time, pushing it to the breaking point, and in doing so the whole car could fly apart at any second due to the sheer determination of the driver and crew. I just liked the idea of that much energy focused on kickin' ass. The name "Flying Debris" stuck with me.
Publicly performing since 1995, this band is certainly showing the signs of what they can REALLY do! With the recent addition of lead singer Johnny Cyclone, they rock the blues, pour their soul in their slow songs, specialize in classic rock and contemporary favorites, and will tease you with a few of their own creations.
Flying Debris has a very interactive style, inviting the audience to join them onstage for select classics like "Mustang Sally", "Old Time Rock & Roll" and "Mony Mony". They’re not egomaniacs out to satisfy themselves, but dedicated musicians and professionals hell bent on making sure the crowd is having a great time.
In addition to working up and satisfying the bar crowds, this band has performed for corporate and charity events such as IBM, Capgemini, Lee’s Summit Educational Foundation, Del Monte, SuperCuts, Whirlwind Music Festival, Lee's Summit Downtown Merchants Association, Richard Wright Memorial Benefit, 99.7KY Elvis Parade, and many private parties.
