On leaving school I had a blank canvas in front of me which has been gradually filled with a variety of colours and textures from life's great paint pot.
I first took myself into employment for 2 years then was drawn towards my creative skills. I went to Art College in Devon, at Dartington College of Arts which I found to be a very self empowering period before going to Goldsmiths College, London, which was quite a culture shift having been in a rural environment and the change was perhaps more traumatic than I had been prepared for.
I returned home to Aberdeen and was there for a couple of months before taking myself to Dublin to work with a Dancer/choreographer, Marsha Paludan whom I'd met during my time in Devon and who'd taken a liking for my photographic work. I stayed in Ireland for 6 months and returned to Aberdeen where I re-settled and subsequently set up a screenprinting business, ScreenHeat which operated for 18 years. In a fateful turn of events in 1996 the building I had worked in from 1987 until 1996 was burned to the ground in what was described by police investigating the incident as a "suspiciously started fire".
I have since taken the internet as my work area and built up a network of friends and colleagues in marketing my new role.
Who I'd like to meet:
Doyle Brunson, Gus Hansen, Phil Ivey, Garry Kasparov, Don Van Vliet
